You should be able to send each other messages without having to comment on each other's projects.

Its about a mailbox, where you can stuff to scratchers like email, so that no one has the email problem. This would also be helpful to adriangl's collab, because then they could just send messages to each other about the password.

I'm finding the idea of the mailbox to be kind of vague. Do you mean like a comment box on user pages? Or do you mean something like a private messaging system?

I mean like email. You could have a "Create new message" and send it to your friends, that way, people can send things to their friends. You could also view a person's messages (but only if a option where you can set if you want people to be able to read your messages.)

Sadly, the idea of Scratch mail falls under the category of private messaging, which the Scratch Team has already stated before that they will not implement.

It counts as private messaging? I never noticed!
But anyway, it's an interesting idea.

Well, with this 'Scratch Mail', people would still be capable of sending messages to each other privately with only the sender and the recipient receiving the message (and I'm pretty sure you know why private messages aren't allowed on the website).

Cheddar, I remember Paddle2See posting a link to this suggestion, I think Paddle2See likes this idea. ( And I do too. )

Really? Can you post a link to it? I'd like to see what they mean by 'Scratch Mail' (because to my understanding, samurai768 is trying to suggest a message system where the messages have the option to not be seen, which seems to fall under the category of a private message system).

I don't think that Private Messaging is a very good idea for Scratch, one of the reasons is because it's harder for the Scratch Team to see if anyone sends an inappropriate message, or maybe someone gives out personal information.
However Profile Commenting seems like a better idea, since then users can also report messages...

Yeah, I like that idea too. Profile comments seem more practical as it allows users to talk to each other without having to go into each others projects. ^^

I'm sorry but I saw the link like a month ago so I don't remember. But what he means by this suggestion is a project that is always on your My Stuff page so you can comment there instead of commenting on a project that the comment doesn't relate to a project. ( If I had the link to the post, I wouldn't have to type all this... ) Not like a PMing System, cause anyone can view the comments or reply, it just the project is always on the front and people can comment there whenever they want so they don't have to get in the way of projects.

Oh, I know what you're talking about now! That mailbox project!
But read carefully at the 'Mailbox' suggestion in this thread, it's not the same as the the mailbox project - samurai768 added in his mail suggestion that comments can be sent hidden without other users viewing it (which means it can act like a private messaging system):
I mean like email. You could have a "Create new message" and send it to your friends, that way, people can send things to their friends. You could also view a person's messages (but only if a option where you can set if you want people to be able to read your messages.)
The open-view mailbox suggestion I like, insofar that the message can be seen by all other Scratchers, not just the intended recipient.
