I don't know how hard this would be, just a suggestion. But a mail system in the Scratch website would be very helpful. It would be an easy way to let people know of updates and things that don't need to be on the forums (such as a personal request or question about a program) because some people don't use the forums.

Good idea. I think we are never going to allow members email each other privately, but a notification about changes or comments is a good idea. Have you used flickr? I like that they have an option where you can see the latest activity on your pictures. Maybe something like that would be the best approach for Scratch because a lot of users do not register in Scratch with their e-mail address (if they are younger than 13).

a filtered pm would make the ScratchRs have to read every post, or develop complex
lingual recog. software to recognize swearing and stuff.
