I'm kinda new to scratch, I've learned how to animate, make costumes and backrounds, and add sound and music that came with scratch, but how to add music of your own, without recording on a mic.

Go sounds, import, and click on your music, and then click ok, and you've imported your music

I've tried that with music on a CD that I downloaded onto my computer, I'll try downloading some music from the internet onto my computer next, if that doesn't work, I'll post back

The music has to be in a certain format (eg WAV)

Ok then how do I know what format the music is, and how to change it (if possible)

Ok, right click the music, select properties, in the general tab, underneath the name, it has type of file.
and to convert the music, you'll probably need a converter off the internet somewhere

what types of music formats does scratch support, anyways. (not just WAV)

It didn't support the MP3 i just downloaded, either there are diffrent types of MP3's, or this MP3 is not really an MP3

If it has the file extension .mp3, it's an MP3.
Consider the following possibilities:
Did you get an error message? If so, take a screenshot and post it here.
Is the file corrupt? Nothing else but to download it again, then import it to Scratch

Not all wav formats are surported see my screen shot below it shows that IMA ADPCM wav formats are not accepted by scratch

Hey GameboyTM101, Scratch sometimes has difficulties with mp3s. But surely, without fail, Scratch accepts .wav files (in Windows uncompressed PCM format). You may want to try converting your files to this .wav format. If, for some reason, your computer won't take mp3 files, you can try to to use a file converter and fiddle around with the compression until you find one that Scratch accepts. Most Scratchers will recommend downloading Audacity (Google it) to convert music files from one format to another. Hope this helps
