I was happily editing a project when scratch decided to use 512MBs of ram and make squeak have a heart attack:

I opened Squeak Debug Console and it kept repeating the Message:
WARNING: event buffer overflow
If anyone has a solution of how to fix this, please tell me. I haven't saved my work ^^'.

Maybe it could be fixed by changing the "process priority" to high, do this by right-clicking the process and then choose that option.
Byt the way, I see you use a widescreen too, what's the screen's size in inches and what resolution do you have?
I have a 22 inch with the resolution: 1680*1050
Sorry for getting off-topic :p

I tried that, It only made the rest of the computer slower. I'm certain it's the fact that scratch is using 512MBs of ram (I don't know why, the project I was making was about 50kbs.) And yes, I have a widescreen monitor. Mine is 22" 1920x1080.

Tried everything. Just restarted it.

That's concerning. Using too many scripts can do that...it's happened to me before. You should always save your work at intervals while working on it, just in case something like that happens.

I think it was using a too long script in this case
One of RHY's 1s1s

sometimes saving is glitchy, either make a test account and upload it (so you can download it in case of emergency) or just risk the problems.

That happened to me once
It usually occurs after all of the text disappears

Once I made a really long script (longer than you're thinking, honestly, you've almost definitely never seen a script as long as that), and Squeak had the heart attack. What was funny was that it was for the project I was working on - but I quickly realized how stupid I was not to have thought of a short script for it. I used it.
I think it happens when there's a really long script, or something like that.

I've done a lot of long scripts in my life but I've never had Scratch crash. Maybe I'm one of those lucky people who never experience any bugs or glitches. xD

It only happened once. And I'm pretty sure that script was just plain stupid. I had:
[][if <Character = [Number]>]
[][add [ ] to Message]
138 times, along with some similar thing 69 times, and some other stuff. It's a good thing I didn't have to keep long scripts.
