We used to require 50 posts in order to be allowed to post a signature. This has changed now. In order to prevent unnecessary posts, signatures are enabled only after 15 days instead no matter how many posts one has. We might change the limit to more or less days.

Sounds like an interesting idea - hopefully it will keep the advertisement spammers at bay while preventing sincere Scratchers from overly spamming the Scratch forums for a signature.

People used to post comments on the forums just to increase their post count so they can get a signature. Now people would have to wait 15 days.
The main goal with preventing signatures is to avoid professional spammers putting links to their websites on signatures.

Good idea. This can stop spam.
Change it on the new TBG forums too. I think it's the 50 posts thing there still.

I love your idea! But one thing:
Ahhhhhhh! I have to add another chapter to my thread!

I never thought about that!
I haven't been on the new Text-Based Games website for fifteen days yet (I don't think it's even been open for the public that long yet), but I have a signature. So your signature in the Text-Based Games will operate even if you spent all your time in the Scratch Forums? I suppose that's good (in my opinion).

its an interesting idea. im not sure if it will work but lets experimant.

This is probably the best way to keep spammers from having a signature. And I think it should not go over that because some Scratchers might get annoyed(the ones who actually are Scratchers, not spammers)

What are signatures for anyway?

No wonder my 41 post account had the signature, and my TBG account now has the sig too!

Funny. I already had a signature. I have 49 posts (50 now) and wanted to change my signature and found I couldn't. At least now I know what the deal is.

What advertiser would wait 15 days if s/he could go to a different forum under a different game and spam advert's there? Just think about it...

But that leads to another problem. What if the spammer just waits two weeks then makes a signature advertising commercial websites? You should have kept the 50 posts rule...

That's what I said.

You might ask why they'd get 50 posts! But this method takes longer for them...
We can't prevent spammers from getting signatures anyway. We can only make it harder for them (and us).

It's better than the old way...
1. We won't get as many unneccessary posts.
2. Instead of an hour, it takes 15 days.

I don't like this rule at all... the 51 post rule worked fine.

I completely conquer with this! There is no reason for 15 days of joining within the scratch community being a long amount of time, if your original intentions are good! Great idea!

The 50 post rule only gave spammers a goal in my opinion.
