War on this Earth
Haven't you people realized yet that there will always be War? Have you stopped to think about all the insane madmen who become leaders of their countries, through simple cunning speech and a word or phrase they say over, over, and over? we will always have our Armies,
weapons, and some kind of Cult-religion. Like [specific religion removed], that promotes the use of violence towards other
religions and others who do not agree with you. There, United Religion won't help now.
A United Government of the Earth would require extreme brutality and violence to add to their Empire, plus, the only way to keep from civil unrest is to make a tyrannical Government. People would rebel, splitting up into their own little countries. There goes United Government. Peace through superior firepower, I say. Split into different countries, have superior firepower, and nobody would mess with each other through fear of annihilation.

Not really
1 I a world religion helps, it prevent one religion from seriously offending another religious group.
2 A world government is possible, it will come with the exploration and maybe even colonization of space.
3 People aren't stupid, they will recognized a mad man when they see it. People only voted for Adolf Hitler because he supported to public feeling of anger and resentment, not because he tricked people.
4 You just to some extent, described the cold war.

Well, if a country can be self-sustaining, It can go through a World-Cold war. But since that is not very feasible, lets stick to alliances. The US and England were together. Why not Half and Half? They MIGHT be able to all create a trade circle, thus creating, self sustainable alliance.
