Concern

I'm a little concerned with the "seizure" projects that involve flashing images. I find that really dangerous, and I think that it should be dealt with.

Putting flashing red and green backgrounds in projects can really cause a seizure, and it's not a laughing matter. I think that these projects are threat to people's health, and safety.
Some of these projects have a little "(Seizure warning)" in the name, but it usually seems more like: "doody fanart lollo (seiz..."!
There should be something done about it!

Thanks, Oramis

Re: Concern

They can be annoying... But there's no real way to stop them.

Re: Concern

I guess we have to rely on the people to be responsible for what they put in their projects, and to warn users if they have flashing lights.

Re: Concern

I think that only a very bad case of epilepsy would be affected by the tiny screen that is the scratch stage. When you think about it, we are exposed to flashing lights all the time,  and it is understandable that scratch is no different. Are you speaking from experience when you say 'can really cause a seizure,' or are you just going with the common stereotype that any flashing light whatsoever can trigger a seizure?
I do admit that the above stereotype does have an element of truth to it, but as I also mentioned, we are constantly exposed to flashing lights. I myself am prone to non epileptic, non light induced seizures, however I would really appreciate the opinion of someone who knows a bit more about this field (someone with epilepsy, or a neurologist).

Re: Concern

I would just flag the project. Why not?

I suppose that could work... but then some users may not know the power their projects may have and upload them anyway.

Re: Concern

I agree, but why would someone with severe epilipsy be on scratch?

Re: Concern

I wasn't close to a seizure because of a project. I just know that anyone could come across a project, and I noticed that no one cares that some people's health is at risk...

Re: Concern

This could be something for the Scratch Team to do, although it may be a bit hard to create a system to have warnings.
