Best Tool For Making Backgrounds

Paint.NET is the best tool for making backgrounds in Scratch. You can make backgrounds, but not sprites unfortunatly. So go to http://www.getpaint.net/ now! What are you waiting for? Go now and download it. It's free too! And you don't need to change the file type in order to import your background you made with Paint.NET into Scratch.

Yes, I might be advertising on the forums, but I'm just telling people about the program I use to make backgrounds. It's really good. Please don't lock this thread.

You can make sprites. Paint the sprite and import it into Scratch using the folder button under the stage.

I found Artrage to be very good for backgrounds.

Yeah, I have ArtRage. If you want all its cool features, though, then you have to pay $25.

Re: Best Tool For Making Backgrounds

No I mean it saves the whole picture, not just the thing you drew. You can't export things with Paint.NET. I'm suggesting this to people who don't want spend money on things like Effects Lab Pro or ArtRage. Those two might be good, but they cost money. Paint.NET is free.

True. But you can make the white area transparent, so you basically are only saving a small part of the image.

Love the gradient tool. That's what makes it an excellent background maker!

Two words: Yeah right.
Those images and unbelievable! I couldn't make those. I'm not saying you didn't make them but that must have taken some time.

Re: Best Tool For Making Backgrounds

Well Hobbs1100 I didn't copy them, but they weren't completely off my own back, I looked at the tutorials on the forums section and used them to make the images and they weren't  actually that hard, the time consuming bit was if I screwed up I didn't notice for a bit and then had to go back to the start just in case (but that's me)

Re: Best Tool For Making Backgrounds

Photoshop Elements (which came with my scanner) is a pretty good program also.
Another free program is GIMP, which will run on many different operating systems (unlike Paint.net).
