import costumes not working! Help!

We are running Mac OS 10.5.7

When we try to import another costume - nothing happens! They click the Import button, make a choice by either double clicking on it or clicking and then clicking OK and the costume is simply not added.

It happens inconsistently with my students with different sprites. It is SO frustrating.

Anyone know what they are doing/what is the fix?

Thanks for your help.

What image format is it?
Have you tried with different image formats?
If you have done both of these things try to re-install Scratch.

Re: import costumes not working! Help!

The problem is with the sprites that are a part of Scratch - not any that I imported.

This problem sounds familiar...is there a particular costume that consistently fails?

Possibly there is a file permissions issue?

Re: import costumes not working! Help!

Yes, they are the sprites that are bundled with Scratch.

OK - this is definitely happening regularly with all sprites that are gif formats.
I can bring in a sprite in a gif format, but cannot add another costume that is a gif format.

Re: import costumes not working! Help!

PROBLEM SOLVED.

This happens with gif files on a Mac when multiple users are set up and the student is not the administrator. The student user needs read or read/write access to the Scratch media folder. By default, only the administrative user has this access.

SO - go on as an administrator, then change the rights on the media folder in Scratch to read/write for your student user.

Thanks for the tips that lead me down this course!
