When you change a variable's location and/or style and hide the variable with
hide variable block it will then save it, the variable's style and location are not saved.
When a project later recalls the location and style it is defaulted.
When you import a project or sprite the lists in the project are not imported.
When you try to create variables and lists with the same names it disallows that.

In the Location and Type part of a variable all you have to do is save your project in the part where it shows the variable in the location and type

For naming the same, computers today work like a phone system they cant be two phones that are the same same for scratch if you name them the same the program will address them at the same time then it will crash, Even with the Best computers in the world same name file dont work, (unless you put hem in a separate folder) try it out your self Name a two files the same in a folder of your pc
and it will tell you you wish to replace them, cancel or keep both files but if you do that
it will name it with a number at the end.

You have to have all variables showing when you save it for them to be in the right positions.

Well yes, that's the complicated answer, but essentially, it's because it would get confusing if you called them the same thing.
