I was making a project and then I tried to import a BMP file for a new costume and it wouldn't work, do you know what's wrong?

Jens - i have saved with MSPaint (not that complicated program, isn't it) and Scratch is not able to read them. Because MSPaint is a basic windows program - and many Scratchers are using it - i think Scratch should be able to read (most) bitmaps. But i do understand if this is a too difficult task.

Same with me. Simple BMP files saved by MSPAINT will import as a blank image.

You can save the picture in another format.
Open the file in MSPaint. Then select File/Save as and under File type choose PNG. Then hit Save.
I usually save my files in PNG format, but Scratch has no trouble reading other file formats, including BMP, on my computer.

hmm, png's, that means mixing different types of files, which means i have to create at least three new folders (im a clean-freak on the comp, pity im not like that in my room), which has alway been complicated for me, hmm...
ill try, but id better not lose any files

lol, I am a clean freak too. Especially in Scratch. I click "clean up" like every two seconds.

I now save as PNGs so it works now and I also hit clean up everytime I finish putting in ONE block
