Trouble recording a sound?

Make sure you have a microphone on your computer.

Also, make sure your microphone settings turned on to full volume.

Re: Trouble recording a sound?

d-boy,

You do not provide enough information for us to help you.  For example, where is you music?
   in your head?
played on an acoustic instrument or sung?
   played on a MIDI instrument?
   recorded on a CD?
   recorded in an iPOD?
...

Importing sounds that are in WAV and MP3 formats is pretty easy.
Recording sounds with a microphone is pretty easy (though I'd recommend external software like audacity, rather than the crude recording method built-in to scratch).

Anything else will be harder.

Re: Trouble recording a sound?

When you try to record longer songs (+/- +2min) the sound will stutter after a while. I tried it out when I was recording a song from youtube, with stereo mix selected as input. I tried again with Audacity, and it worked fine... (I am talking about the Eurythmix song sweet dreams, used in my Audiomix project.)

Re: Trouble recording a sound?

I find that recording things on audacity is much better than recording them on Scratch. The quality is better, and if you want to edit the sound you can do it right there.

That is completely off topic.  I wish I could help, but I don't know either!

I used this in my Cat RPG.

Make all the walls the same color, and:

For normal games:

Code:

forever if <touching color [ ]>
  move ((direction * -1) / 10) steps

For Scrolling games:

Code:

forever if <touching color [ ]>
change [ScrollX] by (direction / 10)

Please note that this only works with games where you're facing either right or left.  Hope I could help.

I agree. Audacity is an awesome program, and it's free!  You can do most basic sound editing functions on it.

If you want to record any sounds on your computer, try Total Recorder (just do a Google search on it).  It cost $50 the last time I looked, but it works great.

i have a problem. when i try to save my sounds for Audacity it overwrites my sound and puts something else. Last time i tried it said something like AV and it does it the whole time!  I already checked the website and it didn't say anything. Can someone tell me how to save properly!

Yes, what you want to do is Export as WAV.  Then Scratch will be able to import it.  Hope that helps.

There are usually microphone recording level settings that may have to be set.  Try looking around in your control panel.   Another approach is to get Audacity, which is a free sound editor program, and try recording in it, then you could create a WAV file and import that into Scratch.

Use VDownloader (Google it), and choose MP3 as the output format.
