If they are not "scratching", really why should we care?

Then they need to find a forum that plays text based games - this forum is owned, maintained and paid for by the developers of scratch, for people to discuss scratch.

In fact we are lucky to even have the "Inspiration" forum but it does *sometimes* inspire people to make a project based on what is being discussed.

Exactly. I can name 5 scratchers of the top of my head that spend all their time in TBG.

...and I could name a million Scratchers that spend way too much of their life on Scratch.

It's their problem if they're addicted to Scratch, and the same applies to Text-Based-Games addicts.

Well said, cheddargirl and The-Whiz. You know cheddargirl, you always phrase everything impossibly nicely. And that's a good statement, The-Whiz.

You are very ignorant of other people. They deserve to quit. That's just not right.

Well, I agree with you that they don't deserve to quit, martainshark. But what I think he's saying is that they should quit, because they aren't using Scratch for what it was made for.

An interesting discussion!  When does a hobby become an obsession?  What is "too much time" on a website?  These are good questions that I'm not sure have a clear definition.  Maybe when you find that your desire to be on a website has become an addiction, you should think about limiting your time on it.  What do you think?

As for TBG, I'm sure that people that spend a lot of time in them get some benefits from the activity.  It's an opportunity to be social, practice communication skills, and be creative while having fun.  These are all good things!  The issue is that the TBG really have very little to do with Scratch and they take a lot of moderation resources.  Breaking them off into their own website will help the Scratch forums better focus on Scratch.

That's what we're all hoping it would do if it got moved. Then, the entire Scratch community can get back on track.

The TBG seemed to cause many problems between users around the Scratch Community, but now that it is gone, the fighting may as well cease too.

It's starting to seem like a new beginning all of a sudden here on Scratch....

um... Just saying Mayhem, in order to stop djm111 from getting a bit angry (I doubt he would), the real thing should look like this.

Oh, and yeah, I totally agree with you Mayhem.

Anyways, back on topic- well, I would say something, but people seem to have said what I would say.

Scratch would be an obsession if someone would be "devastated" if the Scratch program died out.

They have said that they'll make a new website for the games. But they'll need enough moderators for it first. So don't panic!

GAAAH ITS YOU! YOURE BEHIND ALL THIS GAAAAH!

Besides, most scratchers don't post just in the TBG. A lot of us post in I&M, S&T, etc.
