Ha-ha.

You're right...

And if you're going to quit because of the deletion of a completely useless forum filled with garbage, flame wars, and is extremely hard to moderate, then go ahead and quit.

If this isn't a joke, then you seriously need to stop being so lazy.

IT'S GONNA BE MOVED TO ANOTHER WEBSITE, IS IT SO HARD TO VISIT THAT ONE INSTEAD???

Jeez, I'm getting annoyed at these people.

Re: I'm extremely angreh!!!

I'm getting tired of these topics... but then again, everyone is allowed to voice their opinions. Just could people do it in one topic?

Why is the decision wrong?

They have said that they'll make a new website for the games. But they'll need enough moderators for it first. So don't panic!

They're not changing their minds. So it'd look like you'd be quitting... but only if they don't create that new website. More information in André's sticky (which you ought to have seen and should read if you have not already).

I can tell you what's wrong with deleting it:

1. Their fun
2. They can keep you from being bored when you're waiting for a reply from another forum.
3. If people want to spend all there time on it, there's nothing wrong with that.
4. If it gets deleted, Inspiration and More will just become a text based games forum.
5. Everyone will get mad, and several people will quit.
6. Not very many people want it to go.
7. Some people have only things like DSis, so pretty much the only thing they can do is text based games.
8. It can inspire people (not always, but sometimes).
9. Imagine, program, share. Does TBG go against that? No.
10. Don't say that we can just get an account on another website, because a lot of people, including me, can't.

And as I've said before, we don't want people to quit. Even if they only wanted to play TBG, we're still supposed to be friendly. We would lose some helpful Scratchers too.

Not this again...

1. Does that mean that anything fun in the world can't be removed?
2. Why not browse the forums instead? It's helpful.
3. True. It's just annoying when there's the proper part of the forums that plenty of people ignore.
4. The games can very easily be removed.
5. The madness will die away quickly, and people can quit if it's really important to them. It's their choice; not our problem.
6. More people wanted it to go than the people who wanted it to stay.
7. If they can visit and post in the Text-Based Games, why can't they do that in the proper part of the forums?
8. Inspiration and More is for that.
9. Does that mean that viruses, hackers, evil people, spamming, rude stuff, etc. is allowed on the Scratch website? According to you, it's all right.
10. That's not our problem about the website. Why should a programming community care about the Text-Based Games? It'd be understandable if the Scratch Website was for the games, but it isn't. So it doesn't really matter.

Oh, what's the use arguing anyway? It'll be closed either way.

There was a consensus that TBGs do stimulate creativity, this is one positive aspect of TBGs. And this is why the Scratch Team is opting to move the TBGs to another area of the Scratch website separate from the forums.

The only thing needed now is more moderator support for TBGs because they update frequently and need to be checked often (something that is fairly time consuming for us forum moderators right now, hence why the Scratch Team is currently shutting down that part of the forums soon). Once there is enough TBG moderator support, that will be done - TBG players will still have their entertaining games, they will still be able to use their DSis, there's no need to quit, and no need for new accounts on other websites/off-site forums.

I can't stop you and other Scratchers from leaving the website due to the closing down of TBGs on the Scratch forums. Assuming this isn't a joke and if you do plan on leaving, I do hope you will return for the reason why the Scratch website was designed in the first place: for people to share their programming creativity with others.

Re: I'm extremely angreh!!!

Scratch is not a gaming website. It is a programming website.
If you have joined Scratch only because of playing the games, you are not using Scratch for the right purpose.
If you joined only for the games, you deserve to quit.

I'd say Scratch is about 50/50 on the gaming aspect  smile

If Scratchers only made projects for no one to use, there would little point and less ideas.

If a Scratcher also struggles with programming, they can look at projects to get ideas and imrpove.

And what's the point in 'expressin yourself' in certain projects if no one looks?

In the end it's a balance. Some people only look at projects, some people only make projects and some people do both  smile

When I say games, I don't mean the projects that people make on Scratch. I mean things like the Text-Based Games. Some people only join so they can play them.

That's not entirely true. Some people use other parts of the forum, as well as TBG, and if it was deleted, they might decide to quit.

But my point is that if they quit because of the TBG being deleted, then the TBG has too much of an influence on their life on Scratch. Way too much.
