UPDATED: More tips from MyRedNeptune.
A lot of people want to be moderators... so I'm quite sure that some people have overlooked some things...
You have to visit the website each day (hopefully more than once).
You have to visit all of the topics and skim through them (you might get away with not every topic, but still...).
You have to be active and post when neccessary.
You have to be polite.
You have to help others when they need it (and when they might not need it, of course!).
You have to pay attention to the reports.
You have to explain things logically and clearly.
You have to cooperate with the Scratch Team and fellow moderators and understand their intentions (or things go chaotic).
You have to be neutral when neccessary (not side with one person while yelling at another).
You have to be nice when reprimanding someone, and not yell in their face.
You have to use your common sense.
And finally, you must use your power for good and not evil.
It takes plenty of work to be a moderator. It isn't very easy.

This is pretty much what I would/do do at the moment
In the meantime, it really is time for me to sleep now.

I doubt that you can become a moderator just by saying, "I wanna be a mod!" You need to be experienced, have good grammar, be helpful, nice, and use all the forums equally. It also helps to have been around for months.
The phrase "good grammar" is actually INCORRECT grammar. Kind of ironic. =/
You're just trying to get back at us, are you?
I don't see what's wrong with it. Though "have proper grammar" probably is better.

WHAT?!? Don't get rid of them! It's not fair to punish the ones who were following the rules! Also, I can't rpg from my dsi, because it won't let me post a comment at the scratch galleries. It only allows me to comment here! This is also true for another user, nikkiperson2! I'm sure there's a handful of others, but please, reconsider one final time!
Also, for the moderator request, I don't volunteer myself, but another user, nikkiperson2. She meets the requirements of a moderator. I would go for it too, but I'm too inexperienced.
I know this small voice will probably be smothered, but please let the text-based forums stay! I speak out not only for myself, but for those who want this section to stay.

I'm sorry, but they're not changing their minds. But they might make a new website for them... so don't panic.
You'll be able to post in the new website with your Dsi, won't you?

If the new website has a forum like this, then yes. But if it uses javascript, I won't be able to post. I'm writing from my dsi as we speak.

No, I'm serious. Ask anyone. Besides, if I WAS trying to get back at you (I wasn't?), that would be a really pathetic way to do it. "Your grammar isn't right!!! Nyeah nyeah!" Honestly. You think I'm as lame as THAT?

It is not necessary, but having readable grammar and spelling is. As a moderator, you will have to post quite a bit. People have to be able to read it. So, if you want to be a moderator, yeah, you are going to have to be able to use proper grammar and spelling.

I can do that.Thought I am a bit depressed about not being able to use smilies, but its worth getting rid of the inappropriate content on scratch!

Bye then, TBG.
Personally I liked this forum. I'd rather go for moderating it together with The-Whiz, nikkiperson2 and fruit than just let it fade away. I have some experience, since I had my own forum once, so I know what it's like.
As for forum itself, I suggest to base it on phpBB3. It's free and most likely opensource technology, slightly better than FluxBB, and PMing can be disabled too.
Why I'd like to be a mod?
Mostly because I liked this forum very much, and I know that when the game is good, people won't start a flame war (maybe except few persons, but I won't name any names at this point). I also want to do something for the role players, because I know what it's like - I was a game master in each and every RPG in my class in primary school. I know that a well-directed game can be really addicting. And of course, I'm one of those reasonable people who won't stick their own games. No. I'd like to create a Game of the Week spot, where community suggests their favourite games and we -- talking of Scratch Text-Based Games team -- choose the featured game for the week every Monday (voting would be on weekend).
I know that it's like TL;DR, but... I just liked this forum... *sobs*

I have to agree it sounds better with "i have proper grammar"I kind of want to run for it but.......I don't at the same time. Cause it is alot of work and I doubt I would win so that would be a big let down...

I don't know if it could be longer than that but the Scratch Team will notify us when the mods are picked.

I guess just to help out on the Scratch website.

This is a good idea, but perhaps could you possibly:
1) Archive the Forums
2) Transfer them somehow to a new URL (like you suggested)
3) Then delete Text-Based Games
This would most likely cause less people to get mad, as they might quit because the text based games are gone. If they are on the other site, they might stay . I don't know if this makes sense, but if you need me to explain it, please ask...

If you want more clicks, try the Scratch Hatcheries or a dragon cave fansite
As for being a mod, I think it could be an interesting expierience and I'm pretty sure I could help out.

They have already decided that the current games won't be added to the new site
If people quit, just because the current one's are gone. Then it would just show that they don't use Scratch for the right reasons.
