GIF maker

you should be able to make a sprite that moves and save it as a GIF file
if this is possible already in 1.4, please tell me

I don't think this is possible in Scratch.

However, you could animate it, export each image of the stage, and then put them all into a GIF maker  smile

While this may take a while, it should work.

Try googling it  smile

There's lots ofsimple ones, all you do is copy and paste each frame into it, and then save it as a GIF.

what 06dknibbs said is what i do. If you use a mac than there's a simple free one you drag the images into. It is called GIFfun
