What file type do you need for sounds to work?

I can't import background music for a game I'm making because I think the file type is wrong. I'm using .mp3, but scratch doesn't think it's a sound...

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

That's strange. Maybe there is something wrong with the file? Why don't you try converting it to WAV and see if it works.

No, that doesn't work either...

Re: What file type do you need for sounds to work?

Actually, my freind tried it on his computer with the file, and it worked. I think it's a problem with my computer, because that happens with all music files I try to import...

Perhaps the directory the files are in does not have read permission, so that Scratch can't open the music files?

No, it's a problem on my computer. I just found out I can import files in .aif and .aiff, but that's it.

Hmm. What if you backup all your projects, and reinstall Scratch?

Re: What file type do you need for sounds to work?

I'm using a Mac, so instead of installing it's just downloading and opening. It doesn't come with a Scratch folder like the Windows version, so I save projects in one I created manually and can move around. So I can't reinstall it and there's no need to back it up. But i'm OK with just converting the file to .aif or .aiff, so I think my problem's solved.
