mega files

Some projects need to be cut down in  size by taking out music or pictures.
<next costume> <play sound[

This annoys me.
So I know that the  limite is 10 megabites, but some of the music I want to use is 12 megs. Is there anyway to upgrade the amout of space on the website.

Re: mega files

Avoid large music files in your projects as you want not only for them to upload properly, but you want other people to be able to view them.

Giant music slows down the game, causes internet lag, and sometimes Java won't even load the project.

Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

Re: mega files

You might be able to cut the music files down in size with an audio program.  Maybe you can resample it at a lower quality and reduce it's size.  Some programs let you do this, I'm pretty sure.  I have no experience with trying that myself, maybe there's somebody on Scratch who has actually done it that can tell us what software works best.

Re: mega files

I agree.  We do need more online server space.  But I understand that the servers can only hold so much...

Re: mega files

Is not about server space is about the limits of Java on your computer and the long wait for big files.

Re: mega files

You can downsample music with audacity, but I have seen Scratch cannot import soundfiles with a too low sample rate (<11Hz). It would be very good if the scratch team could implement it, if possible.
