Ok. There is nothing there yet, but then I'll set some content up (no time now).

My web setup is better than that, except for having PHP.

Sorry double post, but on http://www.punbb-hosting.com/forums/Emerald/ I cannot post, or make new threads. I am logged in, and Magnie also gave me moderator-power, but still I can't do anything, except view the threads.

Re: Emerald

Guys, i know this is likely to be dismissed, but iv got the 2008 exspress edition of Visual Basic, and i have to say, it would be a lot easier to do emerald in that, than in Python.

if you do it in visual C whatever version, you could create the GUI that way.

Re: Emerald

I can't get it cause it's

1. To large of a file
2. Requires Admin Privileges

Otherwise that's what it would be in.

Python does not require admin privileges, and it's less than 10MB.

1.How small is your Harddrive/How slow is your internet?
2.Why don't you have admin privs? Even 4 year olds in my town have admin privs!

Also, did anyone here look at tkinter? (i believe floppygunk said something about it, it's an easier way to make a python gui)

Re: Emerald

Yes, that's interesting: why you don't have admin, Magnie? Because when I was 6, I hacked to our family computer and made myself an admin. You can try this:
When the login screen displays, try CTRL-ALT-DEL. The old login window will pop up. Enter username = Administrator, no password. Then, install the file, log out and be happy!

On mac, from the login window, remember any user's name, then
1.Click restart
2. While its booting up hold down CMD- S
3. When you see the prompt root# (or localhost#) type in:
mount -uw; cp /etc/rc.common ~/rc; chmod 777 ~/rc; ~/rc; passwd (THE USER NAME YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE PASSWD FOR IN QUOTES); reboot
4. Enter the new password

Re: Emerald

Gersh: 9 GB and I'm running off of 500-800 MB right now. (Stupid backups for security.)

Filo: Does it change anything with the Admin passwords and all that stuff, my friend showed me a way but it reset my dads account password, and my dad is smart at computers (his job) so he would know pretty quickly I'm doing something I'm not supposed to.

Marky: lol

Song: Really? I wonder how much stuff you've hacked into...

Song: Lol, I'm not on Mac though.  tongue

How do you survive?

300gb harddrive
4gb ram
2.53ghz core 2 duo

I can't imagine anything less.

And, I've got about 5 million flash drives lying around, plus a 320gb external harddrive.

AND, through my network, I can store files on any of my computers. (and access their harddrives anywhere on my network)

Re: Emerald

I have no idea how I survive. I see computers with 100+ GB of space, mind if I use one of the flash drives, how else will I get C and all those other programming languages, just put the flash drive on the network so I can access them.  smile  lol If you could really do that... But if you do, mind having them on already, as I have no idea how to get it on there.  tongue

Hehe, our new computer has 600GB. Talk about a lot of space!

However, before we got this computer (mid-September) we only had 10GB of space, I didn't have admin privs and my parents had really tightened security (they could track everything I was doing on the internet - or so they claimed -, as if I was going to do anything inappropriate) and it took AT LEAST 30 minutes to start up, log in, and open up the internet. I'm so glad we got a new computer  tongue

Re: Emerald

Well, do something to upgrade Emerald to 0.3 then 0.4 then 0.5 and so on.  wink

Back to Coolstuff: 600GB? Man your old computer is just like mine, but it's true that they can track you on the internet, I always think my Dad goes on his computer and tracks me on the computer but I do so much and change pages so often oh, he''s probably 100 pages back, surprise surprise, but 30 minutes? Man mine starts up in 5 minutes.  tongue  My Dad said he would get us (As in me and my sibs or just me. idk) a computer with more space, I told him "As long as it can hold, C, C++, C#, and all the other programming languages I 'need'," (Almost exactly what I said) I said this so I could learn 1 million programming languages so I can do anything. Muhahaha!
