-Never give up because of a few bad comments, if they have advice, take it if you think it would help, if it's just a bad comment, try to see why they commented on it, and find a way to get that person to like your project the best you can.

-Never pull popularity stunts, it will only ruin your popularity in the end.

-Don't comment with useless advice, if you can't come up with something to make it better, then just tell if you like it or not, or what you think could be changed to make it more appealing.

-When commenting, make sure that if your giving advice, the person wants advice, if they didn't want any it could upset them.

-Look around for galleries that you might be interested in, you'll find people who have the same interests and you'll make more friends and get more advice.

-Never make multiple accounts just to get one of them more popularity, you'll just end up getting into trouble in the end.

-Don't remix projects and then call them your own! You'll get a very bad reputation for doing that.

-Never steal artwork, as that can be worse than stealing a project, because both can take a very long time to make.

-Never impersonate someone, if you have a similar name that's fine, but don't make your name the same and then act like them.

-Never use stolen graphics, be sure that if you ripped sprites or something that they can be used in Scratch, as putting a project online gives away those graphics.

Also to go with that,

If you have a huge song, and you already tried compressing it in the scratch project but it is STILL too large, remove it, or shorten it if possible.

Be sure you test any sounds BEFORE sharing your project, if the volume is too high you may want to remove it, you would not want people going deaf because of your project!

Yeah, but there are some huge songs out there, so you never know if someone has a 60 minute long song that could be huge, haven't seen many but even several 400 kilobyte sized songs could eventually fill up your extra space. And sound compression sure is crazy with scratch, most song compressers end up making the sound quality terrible.
Random tip-

Try to keep all projects age-appropriate, there are young children on this site, and you wouldn't want them getting introduced to stuff they shouldn't be, if you have something that isn't all-age-appropriate, be sure to give a warning in the project!

Some real advice: Don't be mad just because your projects aren't getting alot of views. Being famous isn't what Scratch is about. It's about learning how to program, and enjoying it.    I can't tell you how many people have said, "I'm going to quit if I don't get at least 100 views on this project like maho does."

Another really random tip-

If you're going to be downloading projects that have been changed to .exe rather than a scratch project, be sure you have a virus scanner and scan before running the file.

And another...

Never share inappropriate projects, you can have them on your comp, but you can't put them on Scratch.

I wrote the above tip because of an extremely inappropriate pic I saw on scratch, several times.

It was designed to be sharp. Its the sharp rules to programming and failure is what happens in both real life and the internet if you get something wrong, if it is your fault or not.

Don't panic if you download a project and don't understand the scripts. You pick it up naturally.
