One of our curriculum requirements this spring was procedure writing. Some students met this by writing and recording Scratch tutorials using the Atomic Learning web site format as a model. You can find them at http://expo.spps.org/Scratch_Tutorials.html The kids talk through things like how to make a button or use a repeat block. They are fifth and sixth graders, so some of the sound quality could be better, but I'd be curious to know if anyone finds them useful.

The tutorials are a nice student project, though I did notice some errors in the programming. (For example, the "make a button" tutorial ended up repeating the broadcast as long as the button was held down, rather than doing the action once when the button was clicked.)
It might have been a good idea to have students debug each others tutorials before they recorded them.
What tool was used for doing the video recordings? I may want to use this with my Tech Club kids next year, if the tool is cheap enough (free or nearly free and capable of running on old machines).

Yes, there are bugs--it was our best effort given the time available to work with the school's tech coordinator and equipment. I decided to post them here anyway, figuring kid projects are kid projects. Making the site was a new stretch for us, so even if there is little audience for it, we learned a bunch.
The recording tool we used is called Snapz Pro made by Ambrosia Software.

Great, I'll look into Snapz Pro for my Mac at home. I'm afraid it won't work on the ancient PCs the kids in Tech Club use.
