Coffee cup!

I use Safari on a Mac. And when I turn on Rosetta, it doesn't log off for a long time, but when I turn it off, it logs off every minute or so. The problem is, when I open using Rosetta, I can't view the projects. All it shows is a coffee cup with 2 arrows around it. Is there a way around this?

Re: Coffee cup!

The coffee cup with two arrows probably means that Java is not installed.

Re: Coffee cup!

Nope . It's installed. If it's not installed, then how can I see it when I open without Rosetta

Re: Coffee cup!

It may not be installed correctly in Rosetta.

No. Rosetta is an option, not a browser. When I open Safari, it gives me the option of whether I want to open using Rosetta. And don't ask me, because I have no idea what is rosetta.

Re: Coffee cup!

Looking around on the Web a bit, it seems like Rosetta is an emulation mode for Safari on Intel CPUs for running plugins that haven't been ported to native Intel code yet.  I shouldn't think it would be needed any more.  Certainly Java runs natively on the the Intel macs.

Is there any reason to use Rosetta any more?  I'm under the impression that it was a temporary hack to allow old software to run while the developers caught up to the processor switch.  I've not encountered it, because I'm still running on the old G4 and G5 processors from before the switch to Intel.
