If there was a filter for names when you're creating an account most people would get away with typing the "s" word in capitals but replacing the "i" with an "l". Just thought I should mention.

Well, there's this lovely thing you can do with Javascript where you can convert it all to lowercase. So case wouldn't matter.

It makes very much sense to provide a reason for flagging a project.  Otherwise, the results could be catastrophic.   smile

Re: When flagging a project as inappropriate

Some projects can be harder to flag than others.  Let's say there's a 100-level game that could take hours to beat, and when it's completed, a lot of bad words come up.  To find this out, would the Scratch Team have to complete the game to validate the reason for flagging, or just download the program?  Also, a single sprite could be a letter and stamp bad words on the screen at the end of a game, and anyone who downloads it would never know!

Yes, but it would be flagged for a good reason.

Toasty,

Have you flagged Dreameater's projects as inappropriate?  There are over 57,000 projects on the web site, and no one has time to look at them all.  That is why there is the 'flag" option—so that users who do stumble across one of the (luckily rare) inappropriate projects can let the ScratchR team know to look at the project and remove it if necessary.

Note: as a forum moderator, I can remove inappropriate messages from the forum (and I do), but I can't do anything about projects or comments: only the ScratchR team and the project originator can remove projects and only the ScratchR team or the project or gallery owner can remove comments.

Actualy, All the scratch team would have to do is download the project and look at the scripts to find the bad words.

Re: When flagging a project as inappropriate

Hi. I found several people who have been abusing their ability to flag others, by using it on anyone they don't like. When my friend tried to get them to stop, they insulted my friend, saying that it was ok since they were part of the "scratch police". I think you should ban these people, and desband the and make sure that something like this doesn't happen again. Thank you. The people who did this are [names removed by moderator]. What should I do?

Pinochio actually promised not to flag any innocent people anymore, so you don't have to ban him.

I know this is old, but where better to post the following?

You might be interested in these two suggestions, Andrés.

Add to the filter.
Entering in a description of a comment that you flag.

Re: When flagging a project as inappropriate

Recentl I replied to a post on the forums saying "You can flag the same project multiple times to make it go faster" or something along those lines with "But in effect it is still only 1 user with 1000 flags etc:"

Anyway, reading this it sounds slightly different. Is it true you can flag the same project multiple times? If yes then I suggest this is changed although i'm guessing you Scratch team members are already way ahead of me.

If you can flag the same project then it could lead to a perfectly normal Scratch project being removed for absolutley nothing because a false flagger comes along  hmm

Hey MegaGamer, please do not post the user names of people on the Scratch forums if you feel that they are a bother. It is best to use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of every Scratch web page and tell the Scratch Team about it, so that they may make the proper decision and action.

Thanks, and Scratch On!  smile

Re: When flagging a project as inappropriate

I posted this in another topic about flagging but I feel it might as well be posted here too.

06dknibbs wrote:

I think the flag feature needs more work still  hmm

Maybe instead of automatically deleting it goes away for a little while for the Scratch team to truly decide whether or not it is bad.

Eg: A project receives 100 flags

It goes away to be 'Reviewed' bye a member of the Scratch team. While this is happening no member can see the project maybe because a message is there saying 'this project is being reviewed'
If it was a useless flag it gets replaced and the member/members that flagged it inappropiately get some sort of warning etc: or reminded what to flag a project for.

If it is correctly flagged it gets deleted fully.
