As for the moderating problem, maybe a post could be stickied reminding you not to swear, and if you see anything bad, to press the Report button. That way the mods don't need to spend so much time with it. (I'd help with it, even though I'm not a moderator.)
If we want to keep some sanity on the website, deleting them isn't an option. If people want to waste their lives/make accounts just for playing games, then that's their choice and no one else's.
No to deletion.yes, your right, thankk you, but what do you mean by, make posts there not count as actual posts, how would you do that? wouldn't they have to reprogram scratch a little bit. 1 more thing once this whole debate is settled i would be willing to help check for swears and iniproprite stuf if that helps.
Edited so it makes more sense.

Same for Inspiration and More.
On iPTF (just making a reference to another forum), the OT Section does not build your post count.

Yes, deleting it would be rather strong, but I still side by it because they can either RPG in one of their galleries, or find a different forum. Most of them have their own forums anyway.

I called them ignorant because they were ignorant. They didn't read my seven reasons, so they just assumed that I wanted it deleted because people were rude to one another. I have never stated this. The only spot you could have seen this is in the section where I quoted all of the agreeing posts. Actually, I don't think people are very rude in there...
You say the Text-Based Games are part of the forums. If you honestly think so, you are terribly mistaken. As I have countlessly stated before, the Scratch Forums are for helping people, suggesting things, reporting bugs, and most definitely not for playing games.

The Text-Based Games may be a way to get to know other Scratchers, but there are the forums New Scratch Members and Inspiration and More. You can do that there. And I have thought about this, so don't worry.
Personally, I think that if Andrés saw this, he would like the idea.
The Scratch Team is not going to bring the Text-Based Games back if they were only gone for a day or two. And they must have liked my idea if they were to get rid of the Text-Based Games, so they probably would be against you.
Of course, you are welcome to post a topic. But please don't post insults to me (I've had enough), and don't insult the Scratch Team or give threats.
I am never going to delete this topic. If anything, I would ask someone to close it instead.
I don't care if you ask the Scratch Team to bring it back. If they removed it, that means they agreed with me. Which means they won't agree with you. Which means the Text-Based Games will stay gone.
You can't scare me into giving up. I couldn't stop now.

When I say 'delete', I mean like 'removed' or 'moved'. 'Delete' gets the term across better. If you say 'removed' or 'moved', it sounds like you approve of the Text-Based Games but don't want them in the forums. I want them deleted and not moved because accounts are for posting projects and commenting on ideas in the forums (like suggestions).

Actually, I'm forced to scour the Text-Based games everyday just to keep everything in check (the 'Inspiration and More' forum, too, but that is another story). And yes, I've been on the Text-Based games before and even played them before in the past - yes, they're fun, I get it, and not everyone is like him. But it seems that everyone places more emphasis on Text-Based games now, and it seems like a waste to have to moderate the forum for even the simple things such as 'this guy is making fun of me in this game' or 'this guy is using a swear word'.
It must be tough being a moderator. Sure, reporting is nice and simple, but actually doing the work must be tiring.
I wish people would have more respect for you moderators. They don't seem to think about the work that you all have to do.
They don't seem to care about the Scratch Community either.
They don't seem to care about anything, actually...

I would be happy to see the Text-Based games on a separate forum off of Scratch as archmage had suggested in some of his previous comments.
There's no such thing as a scanner that detects bad comments, only a filter that detects bad words - comments with bad words are easy to catch, negative comments using uncensored words are not. To this day, only humans can detect negative comments.
Now, i don't want to get into to some hole cyber fight ok. i just know that if you some how got the text based games deleted alot of scratchers would be upset including me and i don't want to go on scratch if people are all upset and that's the only thing there posting about. get it see my point? go to post 65 to see what i think the tet based games should be used for.
post#65 wrote:

I'm fighting for all the people who like text based games and don't know this is gooing on. Maybe i'll write something about this in insperation and more so other scratch users can be apart of what's happening!
I've read that post before, and yes, I understand that perhaps some Scratch projects are based off of games in the 'Text-Based Games' forum (for example, I know those involved in RPG games sometimes use that as inspiration for their projects). But this does not apply to all games.
Yes, I get it that Scratchers will be sad if the text-based games are gone. But I can still see the text-based games being removed from the Scratch forums and going to another forum external to Scratch (or, for RPG games, I can see a gallery being used to host the RPG, with the gallery being open to projects related to the RPG, keeping everything all in one place). There are Scratchers here who have made external forums and such games can be moved there, or someone can just create a new forum. Additionally, If the 'Text-Based Games' forums were to be gone, there would be an initial time period where everyone will complain to get it back. But I believe such a phase will eventually subside, it won't go on forever.
Listen, my mind isn't totally ignorant and hard-pressed against having the Text-Based Games forums remain. When it comes down to it: what I want from those who support the 'Text-Based Games' forums is proof that 'Text-Based Games' forums support the Scratch community in a positive way. So far I haven't really seen much good come from it, and I can still argue that people can go play their Text-Based games elsewhere (which kind of defeats your reasoning for having the Text-Based Games forum stay. One doesn't necessarily require that Text-Based games remain in Scratch in order for people to draw inspiration from it).

Once again, you've stated everything nicely.
None of the supporters seem to think about the Text-Based Games being moved. They just assume that it'll be 'deleted'. When I say 'deleted', I mean 'gotten rid of'. And that includes moving the Text-Based Games. I'd be happy if something were done.
Your question is great:
If you think that the Text-Based Games should stay, can you give us a reason why it helps the Scratch Community?
People never grasp this. They just think "Keep the Text-Based Games! They're fun.".
It's true that there would be outrage if the Text-Based Games were to be deleted, but that would only last for a week (possibly a few days if people accept the fact that the Text-Based Games are gone and there's no coming back). And the new forum users would never know.

I don't care much if Inspiration and More goes away also, but I don't mind if it stays either. It isn't so bad. You can do surveys for your projects and find what types of projects people like, but in Text-Based Games people just play and play...
People may quit if the Text-Based Games gets deleted, but I don't really care. Those people only have joined Scratch so they could play those games (probably). So if they quit, we'll be left with users who actually care about the Scratch Community.
In other words, I'll like it if the people quit; we'll be left with the actual users of Scratch.
I'm an actual user, and I love Text Based Games!

Jonathanpb, I think you should fix the question on the front page. It should state:
If you think that the Text-Based Games should not be deleted, tell us what it
does to help the Scratch Community.

i have another solution that is kind of dumb and may not work, but it is worth a shot. \
why dosen't scratch team make another section on the fourms were people can spam all they want and write things that have absoultley nothing to do with scratch? it may or it may not work, but if it somehow does it may lower the amount of spam on the other fourm sections. we also can combine my idea with hmnwilison's idea of noot letting these posts count.

I've just had a thought:
If the TBGs get deleted, then the people who used them all time will get angry and quit. Then the only ones left will be the ones who actually like to use Scratch and want to make a contribution to it.

What's wrong with people getting an account just to play games in the forums? Isnt playing games what scratch is about? (Also imaginig, programing, and sharing, but you should cath my drift.)
Offline
Note this: there can be no perfect solution to this problem. This chart will show you why.
Keep TBG:
[Ups]
-Keeps TBGs out of IaM
-A big basis of fun to a lot of people
[Downs]
-You guys keep complaining
-Less newcomers try to make Scratch projects
Get rid of TBG completely:
[Ups]
-All the TBG users might quit leaving only you guys who post projects
-People might post comments about other things than TBGs in other sections
[Downs]
-People could also post all their games in IaM causing mayhem and repeated history
-TBGers might protest by spamming
(By the way, most never post anywhere else anyway, most don't even care to make projects, so no matter what if they quit you might lose some real Scratchers)
Make a seperate website for TBG:
[Ups]
-No more of you complaining on TBGs
-Second up of destroying TBG completely
[Downs]
-Lots of people will go away and never come back
-Scratch (or somebody else) will have to moniter two websites
Note: I started as one of those full-time TBGers but eventually discovered the rest of the forums and got bored by TBG. Just thought I'd tell you that instead of posting projects I talk about things like this and never actually play TBGs.

That's not very smart. Why can't you play on your normal account. And Scratch is not about playing games it is about learning to program when you are younger. If you want to play games, that's something else, probably somewhere else.
