What if your posting on a DSi and can't ... rp? in the Scratch gallery or whatever
And how's it a waste of time?
It's probably not going to be deleted and there's a small chance it'll be moved
Either way, I don't care
Role playing is lame
I just don't like people who think they control something they don't
Ok for some reason my s isn't working too well

Mr_X, it's a waste of time because the Scratch Forums are for helping people, suggesting things, reporting bugs, and things like that. Not for games. Hopefully the Text-Based Games players will do better stuff in the forums if the Scratch Team remove the games.
I'm fine with it if you don't care. It's your choice.
Lastly, I am not alone (I used to be...). There are seventeen people who want the Text-Based Games to go. Did you read the list?
We are not thinking that we can control something that we don't actually control. The best we can do is suggest it... which we have.

RPGing is incredibly fun, undoubtedly. But people should stick to the dedicated galleries for that. RPGing in the forums is... time-wasting, space-wasting... and the mods have to monitor that stuff. I didn't know about this until a few minutes ago... and well, yeah, like previously stated, the forums are helping others, not helping yourself to some ill-minded Text-Based Game or whatever. I completely agree.
You state the same reasons that I do. The first person to realize that people can actually RPG in galleries and projects. And it's out of the way too. Not where we'll all see it...

Seventeen supporters by now? And we were all called crazy people at the start.

Jonathanpb, though there is a lot of spam in TBG and IM, they shouldn't be deleted. Everyone uses those forums, and everyone would be really sad(mad) if they were gone. It is better than having spam in other threads.

The 7 reasons why the Text-Based Games should be deleted (and why we don't care if you can't have your fun):
1. The Scratch Forums are for helping people, suggesting things, reporting bugs, and things like that. Not for playing games.
2. Some people only have an account so they can play games in the forums. This is horrible.
3. Forum moderators have to moderate the Text-Based Games. If the forum weren't there, they would have more time to moderate other forums.
4. People might view other parts of the forums instead of the Text-Based Games. They might actually view interesting things.
5. If they want to RPG or play games, they could use a project or a gallery. And they'll be able to actually see something (whether one project or several).
6. Most of the posts are there and not in useful spots.
7. The Text-Based Games are an easy way to get 50 posts for a signature.
If people start spamming or playing RPGs and games in the other forums, people can close or delete them. And if they don't learn, there can be stickies reminding people.
I am perfectly okay with Inspiration and More. Though I won't care much if it gets deleted.
More information in the topic post.

I like the text-based games, but I have to agree with you. The forums are for improving and helping with Scratch, not for playing games that are completely irrelevant to Scratch. Add me.

Meh, I'm a little on the fence over here about this one. Someone mind to take me to a side?
Okay, I've thunk it over, and I have realized that I support the idea of TBG being deleted. This forum became a lot less fun with all these pointless chatrooms that call themselves "RPG's". With 50+ active RPG's, there are no more actually fun games now, and then I also realized that I don't NEED the forum in the first place.
So I'd like to get a place on the list, your honorable listy list.

I agree. It seems like there is too much spam and RPGs on both Inspiration & More and Text-Based Games.
The Inspiration & More Forum can be useful and fun, but 4 words describe it: Way. Too. Much. Spam. The same topics are being posted over and over, random topics saying
iliketospam (NOT a real user) wrote:
<when green flag clicked>
[/blocks]
are being posted, etc.
I also think stricter rules concerning spam should be enforced. Users sometimes go to the Announcements topic and post that same kind of message as above.

I know but the way you guys talk is like it's already being deleted. It probably won't be
17 users out of... uh... 500? Or however many use the Scratch thing

I think you have a point, but just let them enjoy themselves! if you dont want us calling you idiots then why do you calll them ignorant and stupid? just let them do it. its part of forums!

how can you justify that statment when you only have 1 post?

I WILL keep Roleplaying; but soon, I'll move my RPG to a Gallery, even if this doesn't work. I never knew that Scratch goes through all this. When deleted, however, we'll either be flooded by spammers, of that dark hole in the forums will blow away. I go with #2. Once I'm on a CPU, I'll add the sig & move my RPG.

dude you don't get it do you. text based games is another unique way for people to express themseleves and there imaginiation, and ideas because sometimes peoples great minds produce awsome ideas that are frankily to complicated to be made into to a game. just think about that for a minute then reconsider this post and if you still think the text based games should go and you succsed (which i highley dout) i'll make a topic telling the scratch team to put back the text bassed games and you know what i'm going to have a lot of upset scratchers agreeing with me. so dude i suggest that you delete this topic befor i ask the scratch team too.
oh and 17 scratchers agreed with you big woop there is pobally over 100,000 scratch members!

I am COMPLETELY AGAINST YOU on this. It seems like you're just making excuses because you don't want games on the Scratch forum.

Remember parr0t? It seems he just created an account just to bug people and not be part of the Scratch community. Perhaps not the greatest example, but imagine a bunch of parr0t imitators scrawling around the Text-Based Games forum just to bug people.
Perhaps one may argue that a parr0t repeat can happen anywhere on the forums at anytime, but to me, I believe it seems less likely for someone to be a pester since the general hangout grounds for these people is usually the Text-Based Games or the Inspiration and More forum.

Actually, I'm forced to scour the Text-Based games everyday just to keep everything in check (the 'Inspiration and More' forum, too, but that is another story). And yes, I've been on the Text-Based games before and even played them before in the past - yes, they're fun, I get it, and not everyone is like him. But it seems that everyone places more emphasis on Text-Based games now, and it seems like a waste to have to moderate the forum for even the simple things such as 'this guy is making fun of me in this game' or 'this guy is using a swear word'.

ya, but then why don't people just make a new section or have a scanner that checks peoples posts so they are approprite?
Now, i don't want to get into to some hole cyber fight ok. i just know that if you some how got the text based games deleted alot of scratchers would be upset including me and i don't want to go on scratch if people are all upset and that's the only thing there posting about. get it see my point? go to post 65 to see what i think the tet based games should be used for. (i didn't want to write it all over again )
I'm fighting for all the people who like text based games and don't know this is gooing on. Maybe i'll write something about this in insperation and more so other scratch users can be apart of what's happening!

I completely agree with your arguments, but I still don't support the idea of deleting them. Why should they be deleted completely? It's not the solution at all!
The best solution is to make posts there not count. That solves about 90% of the problem. It wouldn't make your post count go up (not even the total forum post count) and wouldn't show up when you press the "new posts" button. That way people would have to post in worthwhile topics to get their post count up. If you still don't like the fact that people can still post in it, then don't look at it. It's that simple.
As for the moderating problem, maybe a post could be stickied reminding you not to swear, and if you see anything bad, to press the Report button. That way the mods don't need to spend so much time with it. (I'd help with it, even though I'm not a moderator.)
If we want to keep some sanity on the website, deleting them isn't an option. If people want to waste their lives/make accounts just for playing games, then that's their choice and no one else's.
No to deletion.

yes, your right, thankk you, but what do you mean by, make posts there not count as actual posts, how would you do that? wouldn't they have to reprogram scratch a little bit. 1 more thing once this whole debate is settled i would be willing to help check for swears and iniproprite stuf if that helps.
