Re: Why Is there a "Close account" button?

You're right, mac. Won't be it better to remove this thing and listen for deletion requests on the e-mail?

If my understanding of it is correct when you confirm the deletion you send a message to the scratch team. Then the account appears to be deleted, but the it is not really deleted the scratch team then processes your request and then closes the account.

Either:

-The Scratch Team removes the Close account feature
-An email confirmanation is sent before the account is really deleted.

Re: Why Is there a "Close account" button?

If you've sent your e-mail to the Scratch Team, you can e-mail them and ask them to open it for you. I'm quite sure that your account won't be deleted, because it says 'close'. I don't know if they can, I'm just guessing.

Has anyone actually tried closing an account? It would help us a lot if we knew exactly what happened.  smile

Create a test account, maybe name it "123abclolpie" and then try closing it.

Re: Why Is there a "Close account" button?

this isn't too smart- Like other people have said above, this is a Hacker's dream come true. I think this should be removed- If a person REALLY wants to close their account, they should have to contact the scratch team, and give them their current password and past passwords to prove it's really them and not a hacker; plus they should send a confirmation e-mail. I think this update was too hastily made, and could be changed. (Or, removed.)

Re: Why Is there a "Close account" button?

Kimmy then they can just go to the profile on the forums and find out the Email. With this feature should probably be removed cause it gives any hacker all the advantage of the world, I think I like removing the account by contacting them better.  smile

Re: Why Is there a "Close account" button?

I was on Scratch one day and noticed this feature, and I was like WHAT!?! Has the Scratch Team lost it, hopefully this is just a prank, and they will get rid of it.

Re: Why Is there a "Close account" button?

I'm guessing it was originally only available for admins and maybe mods, and then something happened so it was opened. Although that fact that it asks for a reason makes this unlikely. Atleast they got rid of it.

Re: Why Is there a "Close account" button?

Well, since the "Close Account" link is now gone from the My Stuff profile page, I think I can safely assume that it is okay to lock this thread now.  smile
