They shall flourish!

I think that a section of the front page should be dedicated to the projects with the least views, because they deserve recognition aswel. When I look through the projects I sometimes see some with no views, poor people. They probably worked hard on a project and it was never seen. Perhaps also a section like Top Loved only Loves per view. If a project had, say, 7 Love-its and 8 views, yet another project had 100 views and 75 love-its, its kinda unfair. Sure, Top Loved is a section where magnificent projects are shown, but once again, those who get barely any views shouldn't be ignored.  smile

Re: They shall flourish!

Fairness is important, but, If they put the projects with just a few views on the front page it would be come very crowded.  Another way is through the use of galleries.

Over a year ago user AJH08 had a good idea for a gallery that would help people get more views for their projects.  It is called Few Views and the idea was to allow people to post four of their projects that had less than 30 views.  I’m not sure that AHJ08 is maintaining it any more but I think it helped some people.

But only four galleries are on the front page at any one time, and galleries contain immense amounts of projects sometimes.   neutral  Its kinda a hard issue to debate

Re: They shall flourish!

But how do you pick which projects to show? And anyway, lots of the unrecognized projects are rubbish. It's only 0.1% that deserve recognition.

Re: They shall flourish!

There are two problems with this:

1. As a new project gets uploaded, it'll appear on the front page (besides Newest Projects). There would have to be a rule such as that the project were a week or two (or more) old.
2. A lot of the projects that don't have many views are projects that people don't view because they're worthless!

Well, well, well. I will get a reputation for dissaproving suggestions.

I guess you're right. Anyway, most of those projects are from a year ago or something ridiculous like that.

I agree, a project age limit would have to be set. Also, yyes... they are definitely not the best projects you'll find. Oh well, problems with my suggestion I knew would be addressed eventually. I wouldn't worry about how your reputation will be damaged if I were you.

Thanks for being understanding, but please don't think I dislike this idea. I just don't think it would work well... what would work better (this idea is weak) is having appointed Scratch members scout around the website, picking projects and placing them in a special section on the front page. The curators already exist, but this is just for rather bleaker projects... not entirely neccessary.

I guess that would work... I don't mind if you don't like the first idea, I guess that was kinda... bad. But the second one might work well.

Re: They shall flourish!

Every day, I used to pick out a project made that day that I liked, and put it on my signature. I wonder if it ever helped.

I had an idea like this and put it on scratch suggestions. I hope you will suport it.
