Looking around the forums I realise many people claim that "Text based games" make it too easy to gain posts.
I was thinking, on some other forums the text based games section don't add to your overall posts. So why not do the same with Scratch?
It would stop easy signatures and gained posts while keeping them in existence for those who stay there all the time.
All it meens is that whenever you post in the text based games you don't get a post added but whenever your post elsewhere it goes up.
Feedback anyone?

I agree with you. Even though my 2k posts will go down, from being a '07er and posting in other forums (lol) I will live.
I made a project about scratch isn't what it is today: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ihaveamac/691518

I still like the idea of off topic threads being in a separate forum. That way the forum posts would be about scratch again.

As much as this idea sounds nice,
Wouldn't that just drag all the text-gamers from this forum to that leaving the forums even more empty? Or if not then text-based games might start pooping up in inspiration again
I see the good points of this too though so it's kinda balanced

It would be more empty, but all the posts would be related to scratch.

Interesting idea. I've seen that implemented before in other areas, it seems to keep users from fulfilling a posting prerequisite with comments unrelated to the community, forcing them to participate in community-related threads. Although, I hope such an idea, if implemented, won't cause new users to resurrect necro-threads just for the sake of a siggy.
Archmage's idea seems to be interesting, too. But if having off-topic threads in a separate forum is to keep Scratch forum purely about Scratch, one might argue that having a separate forum for just Text-Based Games is just not worth the cost (unless you find a place to host it somewhere else for free).

Hmm... I like that idea!

Nice... but there is the slight possibility that the Text-Based-Games will no longer exist in a few weeks.

I like archmage's idea the best. I'm tired of all these people here only for the games and not for the programming language.

i only use the TBG section of the forums really BUT i do use scratch and WILL be posting in other forums at somepoint just not currently imma wait till my posts go up a bit (maybe)

I sometimes use the TBG as a pastime while I do other stuff eg: Scratch projects (Realised I havn't uploaded a proper one in ages O_O) and the other foumes ^^
But I noticed a lot of complaints about them and one of those we're too easy to get posts

You don't control the forum

I don't think he was implying he does
What I think he meant was with the amount of problems that arouse over them could lead to there downfall

Nah, he's just saying
"It wont exist anymore if I suggest it to be gone, because all my suggestions go through"

Hey, keep the flames down.
MRN, there are plenty of free forum makers, including invisionfree, which is the best one for things like this.

I don't see any flames? And I think you meen Cheddargirl
In either case I very much dislike free forum generators They tend to be full of advertisements and not very well controlled in most cases.
