"This also gives hackers an advantage." --the above project
That means hackers can shut down controversial accounts that have bad passwords such as Doody.

I'm pretty sure the Scratch team can tell a hacker from the real user, however.
I think (If this isn't already in place) that an e-mail confirmation should be sent out before the account is properly closed down.

I agree with you (person above me)

There's a 'close account' button? Where is it, exactly? I've never seen it.

I'll move this to All About Scratch.

The Scratch Team would probably see this coming if it was possible. There are email confirmations, so no worry. And anyways, you are supposed to have a not-easy-to-guess password.

I know how you feel... I wish they didn't create that close account button.
I believe it is only good for people who aren't really for Scratch anymore.

The close account buytton is for people who are quitting and mean it
I doubt doody will ever even go near it
Also, why do you keep bringing him up, hamster?

Yes! It is extremely annoying the way you keep attempting to revive Hamster RPG. It's like doing CPR on a corpse that washed up on the beach. And the corpse is wearing clothes from the 1800s.

If you have a strong password you don't have to worry.

You DO have to worry, because the hackers have a thing that lets them see the password no matter how hard it is,lets fix that post,

Thats better.

krymat, please don't bump up old topics unless you have a good reason to.
If hackers had that, then the world would be in chaos. And as far as I know, no hacker could make that program anyway.

Why would a hacker want to hack any Scratch Acc? Its not like your security number or ID....Also think bout it...if a hacker does hack you what could they do? Delete your projects? Spam? Big whoop...you just messed up a kid's acc...also...hackers CANNOT hack YOU UNLESS you download Trojans....or keyloggers....so just keep your security progam updated and working. If you guys went on the Scratch website and Posted your password is (something) then u guys should be worrying. So just act smart on the web and your fine

Hackers can always guess passwords, ScratchX. Though it'd take an amazingly long time for the full complete everything-possible random approach to find the correct password.
Hackers sometimes hack things just because they can.
You know, if they could hack into an account, they could spam all over the forums and not get their IP address banned.
It'd be much easier for them to just create an account.

afaik scratch doesnt have a limit on login attempts...
A brute force program would be able to get into any account... Although it will probably take a few hours/days

the problem is that if you have your progects backed up to your hard drive, like i do then there really is no harm that could be done by hacking the scratch webiste when they could be hacking something like ebay where they would have potentail gain other than annoying a kid.
i believe anyone stupid enough to hack this site really is sad.

I know! Let's suggest it!
If someone were using a program that tried every possible password, it would take years and years... unless they were impossibly lucky, of course.
