Sound types... m4p and mp3, not just wav

I'm still working on my blue square series, and it's gotten harder to import good quality (as in tone) music
And I have a huge music library
However, only a few of these songs are in Wav format
It would be nice if it were easier to import music into Scratch that wasn't just in the Wav format, but if that's impossible, it would be nice if I was to find a free, working, WAV converter faster.

Re: Sound types... m4p and mp3, not just wav

Scratch accepts many, but not all sound formats.
A lot of people have found the free software "Audacity" (available for both windows and Mac OS X) to work well for converting between formats and doing cut-and-paste sound editing.

Yeah, I have that... but how do you convert from mp3 or m4p to wav with it?

when I try to open up an mp3 or m4p, it comes out as two tracks, that when played, makes this "whooip" noise that lasts about .1 seconds

I think it is only left and right channel. You can click file > export as wav and it should have to work.

Note: maybe it is a good idea to convert sounds to mono before importing it in scratch. Scratch will do this automatically , but maybe not in very good quality.
