Post your longest sentences here!

After a while I got a nice long sentence. Mind you, it strayed from topic to topic.

This is supposed to be an excerpt from a long book about the earth’s problems.

I wrote:

It was midnight, with the leaves fluttering… the sound of them would make anyone sleep (even though the leaves were poisoned with gas that was toxic to them); the people that could hear the sound slept peacefully, their chests rising and falling — in other words, the world was at peace: no cars were being driven around, no pedestrians on the sidewalks, nothing like that… as some poet once wrote: “When the world is at peace, so will your heart”; in other words, if the area around you is peaceful, so will you be… the people felt like this; if you could see their journals, they were most interesting; the entries were full of peace — even the ink and paper were happy; the ink flowed smoothly from the pen, the paper was smooth and did not wrinkle, and both of them made friends even though one choked the other; the ink smothered the paper with itself because of the journal’s owner who had written on the paper — who was fast asleep, quite comfortable and at peace at the world; as was stated before, the people were at peace with the world, and of course, that means that the world was at peace with the people and their waste that they produced from living: the accommodation, the factories and the waste that they produce (such as smog and toxic fluid that is bad), and lastly, the work that had been done to the land — naturally, the earth has plenty of anger towards the pollution that damages it, but here it abided with the situation… some people had wondered, but the answer: “As the earth gets damaged worse and worse, it receives a greater need of learning to abide with the problem; and it must adjust… it may be a few years or several, but it will come,” thus, there is the answer for those people.

How was that?

Re: Post your longest sentences here!

Can't you just make a long list or something? Or is that cheating?

I think we're supposed to be writing more of a flowing sentence, actually...
