Actually using Paint is more useful. For example, if you use a huge sprite sheet, then each sprite would be extremely small and blurry. Using Paint allows you to get a bigger and less blurry sprite.

Download GIMP2 and get someone like me to help. I do not no how to do the paint croping like that. If i do that it comes out cruddy.
