ITopic: Random logging out

I know this has been brought to attention before, but I think it may be worsening; I got logged out three times in the last 15 minutes for no apparent reason. On top of that, I haven't logged out in weeks except for checking by test account.

Clear cookies? Restart browser? Check math&pen 1 on my main account?

What browser are you using? Have you tried Firefox?

Re: ITopic: Random logging out

I use Internet Explorer 8 and I haven't had the problem in a long time. Though when I got it (only twice in five minutes and that was all I ever had), that was with Internet Explorer 7.

Re: ITopic: Random logging out

I was having the problem with Internet Explorer 8 and tried everything I could think of to fix it there (mostly turning off all the add-ons) with no success.  Firefox works great for me though.

Yes...I am using tabs with Internet Explorer.  Do you find that turning tabs off fixes the problem?  I'll see if that works with my installation - thanks for the tip.

Re: ITopic: Random logging out

I've had endless trouble with being logged out for the past several days.  And it happens when I use IE8, *and* when I use Firefox.  I had to log in again just to write this comment, because when I clicked on "post reply" Scratch logged me OUT.  When I try to go to messages I receive, I get logged OUT.  When I try to erase a message after I've read it, I get logged OUT.  ____Fortunately, I use RoboForm to administer my passwords, so just two mouse clicks and I'm back in.  But something is definitely wrong at the Scratch website.  I purposely went to other websites, went from page to page and back again....and never got logged out.  But every time I try to do something at Scratch I get logged OUT.  If I click to retrieve a message: the server announces it's "scratching its head" because it can't find any messages for someone who only an instant ago it logged OUT.  I'm certainly glad that other people are having the same problem.  Otherwise I might start changing settings that have worked fine for years.....

It happened to me once, but I use Google Chrome, and I only had one tab open.

What version of Firefox an IE8 do you have? What operating system and version? Have you applied any updates or service packs? What version of Java do you have? What toolbars and extensions do you have? What about your internet connection?

Re: ITopic: Random logging out

This has been happening to me more recently, it started happening around the time when I was using two different computers for Scratch. For example, I would log of one, then go to the other computer and log back on, try to post something, and it doesn't work. I don't know whether it is just coincidence or if it has something to do with it.

The Firefox problem seems to be solved: by digging into my *ZoneAlarm* security settings (which I had recently reinstalled) and enabling third-party cookies.  Since I changed that setting I haven't been logged out once.  But so far IE8 is still having problems on my computer so I'll have to keep working on it.
