Scratch runs extremely slow

I was working on my SSB project but whenever I try to do something, for example move blocks or duplicate something, it takes a long time and the cursor sometimes gets stuck. Also, if I press the green flag not in presentation mode, it is very slow and take lots of time. But in presentation mode it moves smoothly. Is this because of very long scripts? Has anyone else had Scratch run very slow?

Re: Scratch runs extremely slow

It seems to run pretty well on the internet from my machine.  You might have a performance problem on your computer.  Have you tried rebooting your PC?

I have noticed that longer scripts slow the program response down when you are building them.  At times, I have found it useful to break larger scripts apart, while building them, and then reassemble them before testing.

Scratch always runs slower in development mode versus presentation mode.  I think it is because it has to update the screen in development mode and highlight the script that is running.
