This is now the premier "Suggestions" forum for new, innovative ideas for Scratch that many people are just begging to get. We have many posts from Ooogabooga (me) as well as KevinKarplus, a forum moderator, and other scratchers. The posts here are not limited just to blocks. You can post ideas for the website too.
Here an idea:
How about a sensing block that enables you to integrate a "broadcast" block inside a forever loop? It would really help in many types of projects.

Scratch needs to be able to quarantine parts of a script that fail. It would be also good if it would identify the problem. For example, it would say, divide by 0 error if you tried to divide by 0

Scratch should contain sample how-to projects like archmage's to teach about side-scrolling and the like. It would really help beginning programmers.

Scratch should have more sample backgrounds and costumes.

Scratch needs a beaver sprite.

Scratch should become 3d. It could be promoted as the "Advanced Version" to a higher tier of users.

I agree with nunga. The comment block is desperately needed. In BASIC, the simple letters 'rem' were capable of rendering a section of code as useless.

On Macs, use control-option-apple-8 to make your computer cool looking.

Attention all Scratchers,
Do you guys know the if on edge bounce Block?
There should be a block that does if same thing except that you can insert a certain thing such as "touching color______" or "touching _________"

I think for the sake of all simplicity that the "if touching __________" block and "if touching
color ____" block should be combined in scratch 1.3. Also, the block "color___ is touching color _______" should be used instead of its single color version. If no second color is required, it can be just a rainbow.

Scratch needs a set of prepackaged sprites that do a certain thing inside the sprite folder. For example, there could be a sidescrolling sprite, a cannon sprite, and a generic moving sprite. These would help out beginning programmers.

Put "say(everything you want to say) for () seconds

oogabooga has a good point—it is difficult to disable a set of commands in scratch without ripping apart the script and putting it back together. Even putting a "repeat 0 times" around a chunk of code requires a lot of mousing to pull the script apart.

Scratch should be able to play a video file. It would help with making several types of projects if it was possible. If it is impossible, please let me know.

When you import an animated gif into a scratch project, it would be convenient if the next costume script got included automatically, or perhaps a warning would pop up saying something.

Jman720,
I found out the trick from one of my friends at school. Don't you like it?

There needs to be better help that explains how certain blocks, like the "forever if" one, work.

In scratch, you can sense the letter and number keys. For example [blocks]
<key[ . ]pressed?>[/blocks] would be very helpful, along with some others.

The Scratch program needs clearer error messages: I reached some taboo number and I got a cryptic message.

You should be able to change message settings if you don't get any.
