i don't mean to be disparaging to really real * people,
But it is certainly true that i am comparatively *.
That said;
i have heard that Scratch is built up from Squeak, which is a slightly less friendly, slightly more powerful programming environment...
i have looked into this a little bit,
And i have discovered that The Squeak Programming Whatever has -something- about it which makes it very hard to get going on my Mac. ( MacBook OS X IV.XI )
i think it is that you have to do -something- else to make it work...
And that this -something- is secret or semi-secret...
And that this semisecret something is so obvious to the hamsters that know what this -something- is, It would never in a million years occur to them that they have to mention it when trying to explain how to get Squeak working...!
Whenever the explanation comes to one of these secret bits, they just think, Well; I don't have to mention that... That's too Obvious, Everyone knows that...
Except for *.
What are the Secret Bits?
Thanx!

I think you're just a conspiracy theorist or paranoid or something. the average person isn't able to use squeak smalltalk. however if you spend most of your time around the advanced topics section of the forums, you may feel sort of intimidated.
I will give you a hint to access the squeak interface. take a "set variable to _ " block. type a long string of random letters. then highlight them all, press the apple thingy + c, unhighlight the text, and press apple + v several times and keep doing that until the thing has an error that says something about memory, then press debug. that's all I know.
