Moving on from Scratch? Look here!

Thinking of moving on from scratch into different languages? Here are a few that you might consider trying out:

1. Alice

Alice is a 3D program that you can use to tell stories, create interactive games, or animations. I don't know much about the programming in Alice though, ask some of your fellow scratchers if they know.

2. YoYo Game Maker

Game Maker isn't too hard to understand, it's definitely harder than scratch, but it's still a good program to make games. I'd say this is one of the best things to use after scratch.

3. Flash

Note: Flash is a very expensive program, so unless you want to illegally download it somewhere, I suggest saving up money for it.
Flash, my personal favorite out of all the ones on this list, is a program that uses the language actionscript. Most people see actionscript as a complex language, though once you learn it, it's not too hard! It's kind of obscure, since the whole thing is pretty much a movie maker, though actionscript allows you to create games with it. Flash is also a very popular program. You know all the games on Newgrounds, Addicting games, Miniclip, etc.? Those are all made with flash.

4. Roblox

I don't know much about roblox, other than that it is a program used to make games in a 3D environment.

5. GameSalad

Note: GameSalad is only a program for macs.
GameSalad is actually a very easy program to use. In some ways, it's actually easier than scratch! I'm not sure how powerful GameSalad is, but it is pretty good for things like side scrolling, and when you move velocities are already in the program, so it does that work for you!

Here are some sites you might wanna check out if you wanna learn one of these languages:

Re: Moving on from Scratch? Look here!

Flash is easy
Also, just download the 30-Day Trial from Newgrounds over and over again, using different accounts

Don't those 30 day trials put bots on your computer so you CAN'T do that kind of stuff?

Re: Moving on from Scratch? Look here!

I'd add StarLogoTNG, and Python, StarLogoTNG is basically scratch in 3d, and Python is a good text language to start with, maybe basic...

HTML isn't a programming language, but it is fairly easy.

Re: Moving on from Scratch? Look here!

Seriously? I thought HTML was a language.... As for StarLogoTNG, I might not add that because this is for people moving on from scratch... StarLogoTNG is almost the same thing, except it's 3D.
