How to export my own background image as BMP and not as GIF

If I export a sprite it will be a full colored BMP, 24 bits
also if I export by background image, this will be also a 24 bit BMP

but, if I draw on the background with the Pen and I choose: save picture of stage ...
this will be a GIF with only a few colors of my drawing.

I can grab a screen region for a new sprite and export this as BMP, but ...
the easiest way would be to save the stage as picture (BMP) and load it in another program.

I have a program, where are some "renderings", and the cost much time.
My idea was, to "pre-render" it and save the backgrounds

My question is also, if I have big pictures, can I only compress to JPEG or is Scratch able to compress some pictures as GIF. And if it will save as GIF, witch colors will it use.

How can I draw grayscale? Color and Shape ... are not enough for having grayscale :-(

thanks for help.

You could change your image to grayscale in an image editor such as GIMP. (with the desaturate function)

Re: How to export my own background image as BMP and not as GIF

No, I mean ... how can I choose the right gray-tune in Scratch.

problem is, no Color-Shape-Combination will be gray. And to find the right gray-tune with color-pinpett in the Scratch-Paint is also a hard way

No RGB or HSB-information :-(

I will use 64 or more nice colors, and they have to be also in the GIF-File
If anybody will save the stage as picture.

Best way for this are two lists with Color and Shape values.
Was my idea, I tried to convert the Color-Shape-Palette into RGB,

But to find the right gray, I cant use a value. I have to use the Color-Picker :-(

That mean, all changes in this specific color have to be done in every program I will use this color, because there is no value in a list.

I think I will use gray-tunes only for user interface and only some Color-Shape-Combination for the rest, I hope, most of the Color-Shape-Combinations will be also exactly the same color when the GIF will be imported to Scratch.

Okay, Assuming you have Windows:

Load the BG in Paint. Hit File, Save As...
Name it what u want.
In File Type...put in  BMP, or in the filename, put "filename.bmp" with the quotes an in the File Type...Drop down, and select All Files.

I hope this works for u, I got it from memory. And my memory SUCKS!  tongue
