Scratch song suppliers?

Soo...I have a problem with importing songs into scratch. Drag them in? No worky. Import them in scratch? Can't find em. So I'd to know a list groups/users that will supply ANY song you want, and import them into scratch FOR you. Or even just help find a fitting song!

You can find a lot of good music on newgrounds
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/

This is where flash developers get their games as well as well informed scratchers. There is something for every situation.

Geeze, why would you make someone get a song for you? Can you not click the download button on the songs yourself? If your installation doesn't let you then reinstall scratch.

Maybe your songs are in a format that Scratch doesn't recognize. What file types are you trying to import?

mp3 files, I heard Scratch can reconize them. I try to drag them in(like images) too, but that won't work either. I can't find them in the import on the sounds tab either. So I'm trying to find people or groups that'll get songs for me..

From me experience, Scratch seems to be somewhat fickle with mp3 files (it recognizes them, it doesn't, or it rejects the mp3 upon importation). Perhaps this is the case with your mp3 files.

You may want to consider getting a music converter (such as Audacity) to change the files from mp3 to .wav (in Windows PCM format). That one format Scratch doesn't have a problem with when importing.

Just make sure you save it in the correct WAV file format (some WAV formats don't work) and that you're looking in the right directory. Other than that.. what a strange problem!

So then why don't you open up the project in 1.3, import the music, then do the rest in 1.4?

Re: Scratch song suppliers?

try re-installing scratch, also maybe you just cant find your files, save them in a convenent spot, try saving them under the sounds folder on scratch, if that doesnt work try saving it under my music in my documents.

I saved them in a spot where i saw it show on scratch. No way to revert to 1.3, 1.4 has overwrited it.

Re: Scratch song suppliers?

MP3s from newgrounds will always import properly. To import songs go to the sounds tab in the stage or any sprite and click the import button. Download the mp3s to the desktop then when you go to import you will be able to find them when you click the desktop button.

Making other people do this for you is just wasting other people's time.

Odd.

If you had success importing Music under Scratch 1.3, maybe you can just reinstall Scratch 1.3 (just in a different directory so it doesn't affect 1.4). Here's where you can download 1.3 just in case you need it (http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Scratch_1.3.1_Download).

You know, this is starting to look like a troubleshooting issue. I hope you don't mind, I'll have this topic moved to the 'Troubleshooting' forums. Maybe someone there knows the answer to your import problem.  smile

Re: Scratch song suppliers?

sounds to me like you can't find the files when you search for them when you import the songs from scratch. now, im assuming you have Windows OS. if you don't, please dont bother reading this, because it probably wont mean anything. i'm also assuming that you saved the music in the "Music" or "My Music" folder

when you click import to get the songs, click on the computer button on the left.
then click C:. That will take you to the C hard drive. select users, and then click on the folder that says your name, username, or something. then you should see a folder that is called "Music" or "My Music". take a look in there and you should find the song.

This works for windows vista. it might not be exact for other versions of windows

Re: Scratch song suppliers?

I have no idea what the problem is. It happened to me but it started working in 1.2.

If you really can't get it working, I've taken a lot of requests. I just need the name and artist of the song and I can upload it in a project. Or you could upload the MP3 you're having trouble with to a file hosting site like MediaFire and I can also get it working that way.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

there's an oddball problem with some .mp3 files, I remember importing some video games songs from some video game music website and the .mp3 files just didn't work for some reason, so I converted them to a WAV file which unfortunately ruins the quality of sound, but scratch destroys the quality of sound so no biggy

search Audacity on google and use that to convert the files

@cheddargirl: Thanks for the link, hopefully it'll work. If not, I'll re-download 1.4 for the new features. XD

@hmnwilson: Oh really? Thanks for helping. Mizerable - gackt please? I got CowSaysMoo to get it, but it was a record. Which totally speeds the music up, sounds to odd near the end.  big_smile

Also, another good song supplier that has video game music is this:
