Deletion of downloads from within Scratch?

What I'm doing at the moment is downloading interesting programs, viewing them and then re-saving them into other folders that I'm creating for particular types of effect or type.

Obviously, what I would then like to do is be able to delete the original download from within Scratch, but that doesn't seem to be possible. Right-click doesn't offer a 'delete' option and highlighting and using the delete key doesn't do anything.

Is there a way to do this other than keep a written note of programs to delete and then doing it manually via My Computer'?

Re: Deletion of downloads from within Scratch?

Hi mohlar,

If I understand correctly, you are trying to delete Scratch projects from within Scratch?  There is no way to do this currently because we wanted to avoid problems of users accidentally deleting projects.  You can go into the folder the way you would normally explore folders on your computer, and delete the projects there.

Does this answer your question?

Thanks,
Tammy

Thanks Tammy, that's the bit I'd figured out, hence me referring to keeping a paper record of projects I'd re-saved and could delete from my original download folders.

I have now worked out a better solution.

As a tip for anyone else with this problem - what I have done is create several folders within Scratch whose names suggest additional topics. (eg: Scratch tips demo, Maths and physics, Complex ideas etc.) BUT I also have named one of them  'Downloads' which is where all new projects are saved. Then I view them and decide (a) if they're worth keeping and (b) which folder they're most suited to. In this way, I'm building a more accurately labelled library of resources. It also means that once I've viewed them all and either moved them or decided to scrap them, I can then simply delete everything in the 'Downloads' folder ready for the next time I log on.

And if anyone whispers 'anally retentive' ....... I'm not denying it !!!
