I have exported some sprites, some with scripts attached to them, some without. and I'm not sure how to delete them. I have no use for them anymore and they just clutter up the folder. I try to access the costume folder from Program files, but it doesn't even show the exported sprites. I don't know any other way to delete the files. please help

Forget that! I got it! If you have a PC, go to My Documents. Click on search and then click on 'all files and folders', then click on 'more advanced options', select 'search subfolders', 'search hidden files and folders' and 'search system folders'. Then, under 'look in', select local hard drive, or C: Drive. Under 'All all part of the file name:' write 'costumes'. Then click search. Wait for the search to finish, and there should be a folder called 'costumes', that is where they are.
If you have a mac, then I dunno. If you don't have XP, then it might be a bit different. If it's not working, then tell me what you are doing, and I'll see what I can do.

i can access the costumes folder with the other 6 folders in it. when i click on a folder, i can only see the original sprites there, or sprites i have put there previously. I can't see the sprites that i have exported from scratch.

Go to 'My Documents', then click on search. A list of options about where you want to search will come up. Click on:
All Files and folders
Then under 'all or part of the file name', write 'sprites'. Then you under 'look in', select local disk. Click on 'advanced options', then put a tick next to:
Search System Folders
Search hidden files and folders
Search subfolders
Then click search. I don't know why that didn't work with costumes, what kind of Windows do you have?

i use vista, so most of that stuff doesn't apply to me. i will try to figure out a better search tool on vista, because the only one i can find is on the start menu.

That's ok - just type "sprite" in the start menu, then wait... And wait... When nothing comes up, a link to an advanced search appears - try thatone and make sure it also searches system/hidden folders.

so i typed "sprite" in the original search, then went to the advanced search. i selected it to search everything, and the checkbox to search hidden folders, ect. for the name, i typed in the name of the sprite i exported, but when i searched for it, nothing came up. unfortunately, it still doesn't work. any more ideas?

Type costumes instead, that might work, and make sure you search the local disk, or C: Drive

That's just not possible
Just browse to Program Files\Scratch\Media and check for sprite files.
(Does your pc shows extensions? If not, go to the Explorer settings en uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types.")
If there aren't any in that folder,
go to \Costumes
Hmmm...

that's the first thing i tried. i can see the sprites that came with scratch, and the ones i put there myself, but not the exported sprites.

Export another sprite, then look in the sprite folder in Scratch. What folder are the exported sprites in?

i exported them into the "things" folder which is in the "costumes" folder. when i view them in scratch, i can see them fine of course. but i can't delete them directly from scratch. the problem is viewing them out of scratch. i can't see them at all

But that's impossible, I really wish I could look at your computer. Well, maybe you should post a topic in the suggestions forum, saying that you should be able to delete things from Scratch.

actually i was hoping that someone more knowlegable than you and i (paddle2see) would take a look at this topic, and confirm that it is not possible, or find a way to delete exported sprites.
Yeah. I have way to many sounds/sprites that are un-needed. I don't want to waste my laptop's memory.
