Background image re-sizing, music and associated copyright issues

If, like me, you have a big archive of drawings or photographs that would make good backgrounds for Scratch but all need to be re-sized to fit the 480 x 360 format, this freeware program will perform batch re-sizing really quickly and neatly. It's called PHOTORAZOR. Experiment at first to make sure you set the slider to 480 and also define the folder where the resized copies are to be sent. It doesn't overwite your originals. I just re-sized a massive archive of backgrounds that I created for 'Tales Animator' and they worked perfectly. (I used one in 'Bob's beat' and one in 'Bubbly bot' and all the scenes for 'Rolfaroo' were done this way. All were originally 800x600). Naturally, you can resize single images if you wish, although the freeware program Irfanview is probably just as good for that.

COPYRIGHT QUERY ..... I wonder how many people consider copyright issues if they download, say, images via Google Image Search or use 'rips' from CD's, mp3's etc. Being an open website where anyone can view projects, there's always the chance that someone will spot an image or hear music for which they hold copyright. Does a warning about this need to be made on the website?

Re: Background image re-sizing, music and associated copyright issues

As these projects are entirely non-profit, and could be argued as educational, would "fair use" apply in many circumstances?

I'm just asking, how do you put a project on a CD? I would really like to know. Thanks.  smile

In regards to the copyright question, here is what I said to a similar question a few weeks ago: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=1770#p1770
