Strangely, you will see Paddle2See being quite social. I like mods/site creators that are social. Instead of being all secret, or swarmed when seen
Yes, that's one thing I love about the Scratch website.

What a funny topic! I remember when my Calculator got featured, and I liked it. But the problem was, the temporary popularity was overwhelming. I wouldn't want to be a proper celebrity, and in my opinion I'd rather get little snippets of it or constant, moderate levels of popularity.

I completely agree with you. ^^ I like my moderate, "quiet" popularity at the moment.
About a year ago I was so immensely popular I got exhausted with it and "quit" for a few months. ^^

It is best if you create two accounts - one just for fun, to which you can upload all your projects, and the other for good projects. You will need a fun account if you become popular, because popularity is a burden.
I have a few other accounts...
illusionist (MAIN)
illusionist_extra (Test account, and some extra projects)
personman2000 (Old extra account, switched to illusionist_extra to let people know its me)
This isn't my account, but I thought i'd list it anyway...
Apollo64 (My brother's account)

Great tips! I'm actually pretty popular already, I have only been on scratch for 6 months. Through that time, I only started getting good after my first month.
I remember when I saw your first project on the Newest section

One more tip;
Don't over obsess with being famous. Just make projects that you enjoy, help people out on the forums, and make friends with people you actually like and admire rather that any old person. If you just concentrate on being the best you can be, then people will respect you for it.

Although I've never been on the front page for anything special, I have assumed some things, most of which require emphasisement. Firstly, friends. With the new part on the front page for 'Friends latest projects' I think that friends would be a vital asset. Ok, thats all I really wanted to emphasise on, but I'll add a few things. Tags are vital. Its what people search for. Thats one way to get views. Another is galleries. If you come across, say a themed gallery and one of your projects fits it, put it in. Thirdly, listen to constructive criticism. It might just help to better your projects. Next, building off one of my previous ones, the Scratch Design Studio. Although its not for any great length of time that your projects are on the front page during that month or whatever it is that the SDS is the same. To get more views when a project is in SDS, Newest and Friends, an interesting name and picture are required. If you name your project: Pointless or something like that, its not gonna be viewed as often as something called Pokemon adventure. If the picture is a blank screen, its gonna be nothing compared to a project with a Pokémon battle. To get the appropriate preview for your project, press stop at some point then upload. I hope that helps anyone. Scratch on!

Thanks MyRedNeptune and bosox397. Thanks a lot. Now I know that I'm missing out on a lot of fun... not just not being able to be recognised for once in my life.

you make it seem like your assuming that the scratchers your talking to have some artistic talent in that tip
Some others I can think of
1.Spend time on your project, try and get rid of as many glitches as you can
2.Make your project simple, but effective, projects that get to complex may cause a lot of lag in scratch
3.Don't spam
Offline
Here are my tips:
1. Make the project professional. That means no glitches, and decent graphics.
2.Upload said project.
3. IMMEDIATLY do as follows:
A. Post an advertisment on the forums with a descriptive title and a good description.
B. Tag everything related to that project, including your name. If its alien pinball, tag it with Alien, Pinball, Arcade, Martian, Aliens, Alein, space, game, and some more.
C. Now take every tag that you put on it, and look for galleries related to each and every one of those tags. If you can, put it in the gallery. Don't spam it, but if there are 100 galleries related to alien pinball, make sure it is in all 100.
D. Now search for reviewing galleries/threads and ask people for a review. Its just one more person that sees your project.
Thats how I get the word out about mine. Have fun with it.

I've been on Scratch for years, and still, the top number of views i have gotten is around 50. Although, come to think of it, i don't advertise much. Mabye i'll try that, along with spending more time on my projects.

I have been on one type of front page: Newest Projects. And that is where the bad ones usually are.

I myself am sort-of one of these, and I have many friends who would love to get constant views and lots of fans. So heres some helpful hints-
1: Make friends. This does NOT mean you add tons of people to your friends list. You'll just be regarded as a sore loser (no offense to some of you). What I mean is putting nice constructive comments on peoples projects. This might be long and painstaking, but after a bit you'll find you've made a true friend and the people you talk to will compliment your projects back. (I can prove this)

3: I advertised all my good animations in the forums and that's when I started getting top viewed. It gives that little bit extra amount of people you need. Try to avoid advertising on projects otherwise your morale will lowersomething like that.
If you make a fancy project telling people to look at a certain thing you did that sometimes works.
4: Be patient! It took me a year to get famous, and I've often seen people quit just because they never got to be a celeb. NEVER quit because of this, quitters are not destined to be famous.
If this doesn't work you can blame me, and then I'll tell you that you didn't try hard enough.
Scratch on, and I hope this helps!

These are of course tips for artists and animators, right? Seems we have a large amounts of you. If you are good and you make good animations, people will like you. If you just make some drawings that are generally bad, you must improve yourself. And since late 2008, people are not as friendly as before.
