That's not too old for Scratch... But who knows? Maybe Scratch will lose popularity and "die"... Probably not though.
Anyway, I don't mean me at the activity level I am at now, posting projects at least twice a day and posting on the forums regularly, probably checking me messages once a week...
And you're only 11?!?!?
I guess that proves that you don't have to be older to be good at Scratch...![]()
Same here, I'm 11, what are you like 16 or somethin' like archmage?
The Mage is 18.

Scratch will probably die.
In 10 years I'll be -23

Joke? How could the death of scratch be a joke?

I'll give my lame English literature skills a try.
Scratch 2.4 has been released! All 3 million users on the now world-famous Scratch website are excited to see the all-new blocks such as "Broadcast [---] to IP [---]", "Change costume to filepath: [---]", "Open up URL: [---]", and of course the new beta 3D rendering - noobs ask every 5 seconds on the forums "ohplz cn u guys tel me how 2 use the 3d blox?".
Sony is considering making, with the help of the Scratch Team, a whole new Scratch program for the PlayStation 14, seeing as Microsoft's Xbox 2520 already supports playing Scratch projects on it, but not making them.
Meanwhile, the Scratch Team starts developing 2.5, said to support online play with the 3D functions, and Archmage's son enjoys his place as the most popular Scratcher - but hackers have attacked his account 3 times without succeding.

I don't think the PS14 will be around for another 30+ years. Besides, they make a console maybe every 3 years, and there would have to be 11 consoles in the next 10 years to be that high. And 2520 isn't a watcha-ma-callit of 2.

Archmages son... LOL What do you think his usrname would be?

I'd like to see Arduino compatibility, another open-sourcey thing. It would have to have a lot of modifications though, because Arduino is a circuit board and you can attach things to different pins, so maybe a [(whatever) at pin (whatever)] block could be made?

well, with version 2.0 there must be a radical change. otherwise it will just go from version 1.9 to version 1.10, NOT from version 1.9 to version 2.0. though it might happen that way. and it might go from 1.6.1 to 2.0. who knows? anyways, I think that at some point Scratch might split sort of. like there would be two version of scratch: basic, and advanced. basic would be for teaching kids to program, and advanced would be for when the kids get better at programming, they might want to do more advanced stuff. and lots of scratchers right now would like more abilities with scratch. But it is seeming that few of them are being implemented into the next version of scratch, mostly because they are "too advanced". for example the mesh feature was taken out because the scratch development team thought that it was to glitchy and confusing for the little kids that were just starting to program. But they don't have to use the mesh! Yes it is glitchy! but some people might be willing to try using it anyways, after all, the mesh feature has huge programming benefits! if there are two versions of scratch, basic and advanced (basic just a more simple version of the advanced) then everyone can get what they want!
Offline
well, not EVERYONE, but the main groups of programming ability will get what they want/need, what is best for them. and maybe the advanced version would be an unlockable "secret feature" of the basic version, sort of like the WeDo blocks. and basic programmers would be able to download and use projects made with the advanced scratch creator without needing to download a second file. the main idea is to let user-created scripts be used in scratch, things like the Build your own block thing that Jens made (like subs and functions, it would be very useful! Jens still needs to make a 1.4 version!) and other things requested that are easy to add. The main challenge should be not being able to use it, but being able to share it. You can hack scratch for what you want, but the project won't be share-able, so the Scratch development team should add some additional way to store files of modified scratch easily. they should do that if they don't want to make the BYOB thing or the mesh or anything built into scratch.

My thoughts on the future:
1.5 Support for cookies, show/hide list blocks added, along with time of sound/music variables (start from last point, skip to certain point)
1.5.1 Increased memory and space for larger projects uploaded, gravity blocks for
platform games.
1.5.2 Local computer time variables added for interactivity, new video uploading
(use at own risk)
1.6 Scratch Online feature introduced, allowing users to play with friends in real-time and stream new variables online.
1.7 More Scratch Online features added.
1.8 Camera sensor added- detects motion, different colors, etc.
1.9 Bugs fixed with Camera sensor. BYOB feature included- but my have some glitches
2.0 Scratch support for major gaming consoles. Lite editions for programming for/with these consoles.
Basic and Advanced versions made.
Kids starting programming should try Basic, and later do Advanced if they want some extra fun and challenges. Some credit goes to users before me.
2.0.1 Increased memory and space for larger projects uploaded
2.0.2 Interface layout makeover - for more simplicity.
2.0.3 Built-in convert to exe/app feature now included, completely fixed
2.1 Create/save/load files to your computer/console's internal memory.
2.2-4? I'm losing myself here. I should stop now, it's too much fun.
I'll try making a narrative of the big 2.4 from the perspective of- me. No teasing.

Both were jokes. You can tell because of the whole negative aged thing coupled with the whole "Inanimate object dying" thing.

It kind of got out of hand at 1.6. I don't think scratch will be ready to go online for a loooooooooong time.

10 years from now much can happen, and any which way scratch will either be obsolete or gone
-technology in gaming will reach amazing new heights in virtual reality forms and tools, IDE editors, and coding will be incredibly easy, but other complex programming languages will still remain
-there is a doomsday like theory that the US and/or other parts of the world will have government and economic collapses causing for who knows what (as impossible as this seems it is much more possible than really looks like if you know what state the economy is in)
and yes this is in 10 years only, either we will thrive more or the world government will fail, if you don't believe me you're probably some stupid kid who is under the age of 13 or so and you don't know crud about the world

That was... Inspirational? Although there's no need to call kids stupid. At least some of them use capitals and punctuation...
