What Scratch Website Should Have:

These are what i think scratch should have:

1) There should be a button that lets you clear every message in the gallery
2) The Description on Gallery's and project should have a text toolbox ( looks to plain)
3) Graphics- I think that your profile should have html graphics, when i look at my
profile it  looks boring, it should be able to have backgrounds, maybe
music if it ever gets to that point.

Others I will add later! ^_^

Re: What Scratch Website Should Have:

I agree, on projects I think there should be an option to put a password to download a project, also a way to block certain people from seeing them.

Re: What Scratch Website Should Have:

Toasty is right. Scratch is about sharing your ideas and building on other people's ideas like sharing recipes. The button to put projects on the website is called "Share!" for  reason :-) I think preventing people from downloading projects goes against the Scratch philosophy.

That's totally right and I agree with that, but sometimes I might find it useful because I own Crank. Inc. We make short projects and put them together to make the whole thing. We like to just release it whole, not little bits to reveal what the whole game is like. So, for me, it's in the middle  smile

Mabey, but this has happened to me in the past: When I first joned, I made a Giant First Project, it took me 1 month to finish, and the Day I finished and Posted it, someone downloaded it, uploaded it, and Said " I made this all by myself, with no help, and no downloaded help." Which is a lie, and it wasn't what I wrote because I wrote "this is my forst project, enjoy!" That should be stopped, so that is why I posted the idea.

Re: What Scratch Website Should Have:

Jman720, I have seen some projects whose creators have personalized them in a way that makes it harder for plagiarists to re-upload them without any or only minor modifications.

Some programmers have left their name in an unused costume or background, as a global variable name (or as the name of a sprite) or in a speech bubble triggered by an "undocumented" key event of a certain sprite. Others have simply left their name in the project notes - and the copyists didn't even notice that!

I'm pretty sure that there are yet even more and possibly more clever ways to personalize a project. While this, of course, doesn't prevent the project to be re-uploaded unmodified by somebody else, it keeps its original author visible.

Re: What Scratch Website Should Have:

If you are all worried about people taking your ideas, then why share it with them at all.

Re: What Scratch Website Should Have:

I think there should be a scale from 0-10. And if someone posts 3 or lower, that's bad. And if there are at least 20 3s or lower, then it is considered flagged.

Hey, Jman720, I have an idea! Maybe, the scratch team could make it where if somebody wants to download your project, you have to give the A-OK! Awesome, huh?

Re: What Scratch Website Should Have:
