Re: Scratch App for iPod/iPhone- SCRATCH TEAM READ THIS

Has anyone pointed out the screen is quite small and you couldn't get all of the scripts and everything on the screen. (Sorry to be a pessimist!). Even if you did only see the scripts or the stage at one time- not together- It would still be too small.

this is only one of the problems. Others are that the iTouch does not have java nor flash, and that there will be no support for key press events

Re: Scratch App for iPod/iPhone- SCRATCH TEAM READ THIS

you can create apps for the iphone with a program called SDK which is only available for Leopard. but the thought of a scratch app would be fantastic! I have an iPhone and I love it. I also equally love scratch. Together, would be the ultimate coolness! I am actually building a computer out of old parts so I can make it run Leopard and create iPhone apps.

Re: Scratch App for iPod/iPhone- SCRATCH TEAM READ THIS

If you have an iPhone or iPod touch, it is possible to access scratch (no arrow key controls, right clicking, or project building) from your device NOW.

In 2 steps here's how to do it:
1.Download VNC Lite (by MochaSoft) on the App Store
2.Download UltraVNC onto your computer.

That's all there is to it.

Re: Scratch App for iPod/iPhone- SCRATCH TEAM READ THIS

I'm working on an education project in Sri Lanka (through leapsrilanka.org) and am running a pilot next summer with used iPod Touches with schoolkids there. I have read this thread and certainly appreciate the technical hurdles but would love to see a version of scratch for the iPhone platform for such uses. Actually if the pilot goes well the aim is to move to the Android platform, so that would be just as amazing.

Are there any Scratch developers working on a "light" version of the app for such purposes? Does anyone know of comparable applications for iPhone or Android?

Maybe it's because you ARE wrong. Lol, jk.

Anyways, back on topic, I don't think scratch would be too great on an iPod/iPhone mainly because the screen is too small and the block placement would get way too out of hand.

For example, if you are trying to put

When green flag clicked
Forever
[move 10 steps],

when you are placing the move 10 steps part it might get in the forever or over the forever, so that would get really annoying.

I have seen suggestions for the Xbox, Playstation, Playstation Portable, Nintendo DS, iTouch, iPhone, iPod, Wii, and possibly more. Read this.

umm right, dude pc stands for personal computer so you really said

1. A mac computer
2. A Personal Computer Computer
3. A Nintendo Ds Portable gaming system
4. Ipod Portable system

I think you meant windows because PC can be mac windows or linux and doesn't include laptops or netbooks.

I think exporting to .jar files would be good, like saving to a bundle with the scratch file and the java reader in one standalone interpretable .jar to use offline
