Hexed is a story I started writing a while ago and I plan to update it every once in a while. Please post mistakes, compliments, critique, and ideas. Here it is:
Chapter 1
Flora Village
Birds twittered and fluttered through Flora Village, one of the oldest towns in the World of Rylim that looked as old as it was. Technology hadn’t advanced much here as they still used wells, windmills, and flour grinders. But they still picked up modern day necessities such as microwaves, light bulbs, toilets (thank god!), and televisions.
Flora Village is well known for it’s plentiful plant life, including herbs, trees, bushes, berries, fruits, (very few) vegetables, and 14 species of cactuses. They had mainly outlawed vegetables due to the fact that they took up too much space to grow. Flora Village is also the only place that can support the life of a Ghostang Berry. Garden festivals are held each season and people come from around the world to see flowers from everywhere in one spot.
Rosy Bansher was skipping through a vine farm trying to avoid sharp spikes getting caught on her puffy pink dress. Her dad owned the vine farm, but her mother had passed away long ago.
She twirled a lavender colored vine around her finger. It was a bit fuzzy, yet really smooth. She crushed the tip up in her hand. This type of vine was used to make soothing lotions and creams. Rosy turned only to see a Grim Vine with a twisted, rough body that had dark purple spines. It immediately wrapped around her neck and squeezed. Rosy screamed as another came out and wrapped around her legs. Another one muffled her screaming as she squirmed about.
Then there were three thick slicing sounds and the vines plopped to the floor and the other ends retreated. Her dad had heard her screaming and rushed out with his sword. “Rosy, I told you not to come out here anymore. Go back to the house.” Rosy gave a quick nod and dashed away. Her father examined the vines and stuffed them in his bag. “Grim Essences here? Clark is going to want to hear this.” Rosy’s dad said to himself.
Chapter 2
Merchant of Zues
Samuel pushed a cart filled with gems through the crowded streets of Zues. Zues was a merchant town where lots of people came to sell and buy. “Sapphires and rubies here!” Samuel announced. “A few unidentified gems too!” Zues was a pleasant place to live; if you don’t mind people trying to sell you stuff every 10 minutes. Despite the fact that stealing something would be as easy as picking it up and running, no one ever did steal. Over the next few hours, gems were bought and every gem but one was identified. By nightfall his cart was empty except for the unidentified gem. It was green, pyramid shaped, and slightly see-through. “Hmm. I’ll figure out what you are tomorrow.” Samuel said.
The next day he was able to sell all of his gems again, except for the unidentified one. It started glowing out of nowhere in the middle of the day which no one had an explanation for. Samuel sat on his porch with the glowing gem. “I really need to sell you. But tomorrow I’m selling whistles, so you’re gonna have to wait a week.” He set the gem down on his shelf and started to read about the history of gemstones. He discovered that there are only few gems like his in the world but none matched the exact size, shape, or color.
Next day, an idea struck him as he was selling a Class G bamboo whistle to an elderly man. He took a short break to head inside and Map Quested a mining town nearby. He had a friend over there that could probably help him with what to do with the odd gemstone. So he decided that tomorrow, he would depart for Miner’s Paradise.
