You are wrong, it wouldn't be easy to make the wii support java. The odds for a wii version of scratch are very, very slim.

also i think that the creators wouldn't want scratch on wii because:
A) they would have to license it for nintendo
B) it would be hard
C) scratch was never suppose to make money

the point is..... sorry guys but no scratchy on wiiwii

Acctually, it could be free WiiWare or part of a game design package with commercial software too.

Yet they could basically do an extra disc, called WiiScratch maybe? I think it's a great idea. It would add more intensity to the game a it would be good if the disc could also be transferred to PC. Even if the Wii system won't download it if it was compatible with PC you could upload your creations and download the stuff there before taking in to the console(?).

Calimero

that would be a great idea! scratch will finally be portable! And it'll work on the Wii!

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

Yeah, I would totally download a scratch channel for the wii! There should be more blocks for it so you can use the wii remote to point and control stuff like a [wii remote angle] block

As countless people have said before me, the Wii doesn't have Java. Honestly, if you wanted Scratch portable, use a laptop.

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

How about a scratch disk for the Wii? You could make games with the disk, and if you have internet, upload them? That would get scratch's popularity up, and would be awesome!

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

I don't think that would work. For one, would Nintendo allow them? Also, scratch isn't something like runescape or whatever, it doesn't get that much money, and making a Wii game would be very expensive. Also, the controls would be hard to use and frustrating, I assume no member of the scratch team actually know how to make a Wii game, so someone else would have to make it, which means that they may get it wrong. And why pay for Scratch on Wii when we can get it online for free. And Wii doesn't play Java, so you can't play the projects online, and you can't download them either. I think some people have said that the CD could be able to be used in a PC and Wii, but then you forgetting about Macs, and even just PC and Wii is impossible, because they are different CDs, you can't get a Computer game to work for a Wii (although you can get a DVD to work for a PS2), so I think this idea is a bit far fetched.

Sorry to be negative, but I was just being realistic.

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

Scratch does not make enough money to do that. It is already a bribe because scratch payed to make a program we can use for free! I'm sure someone could make it possible, but it might be too expensive $ $

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

You should stop putting scratch onto wii, and start putting wii onto scratch! there's already software to do this, as posted earlier on this thread.
[url=http://code.google.com/p/wii2scratch/downloads/list]Wii2Scratch[url]You get your wiimote, a bluetooth dongle, scratch, and the software I posted above the follow these instructions:

1.Connect the wiimote to the computer using the bluetooth.
2.Start Scratch. You should use one of the sample wii-compatible games, posted here:
   Wii2scratch Gallery
3.Enable Remote Sensor Connections, If not done already. instructions to do so can be found here: Scratch Connections Wiki
4.Start Wii2Scratch. If Everything went well, The Wiimote will rumble, the lights will stop flashing and turn to p1 and the scratch project will be able to sense the wiimote. Does  that help with anything, at all?

i think Scratch would work better on the Xbox Marketplace. Cheap, easier to control, and it would be able to hold more.

All Wii games cost at least $50.00 or more. But very rarely Wii games can be lest then $50.00.

Re: Scratch for the Nintendo© Wii™!

Hello every one!I've come to terms that the scratch community thinks that scratch would be good if it ever went on the Wii. It also seems that everyone wants a way to have scratch on the Wii like for WiiWare or Scratch CD or something like that! I all want you to take a vote on if you want scratch to be on the Wii even if you think it will probably never go on the Wii we still want you to vote! This will give me a clear way of seeing more accurately if the scratch community wants Scratch somehow on the Wii.Any way, please tell me what you think about Scratch on the Wii and always look for more posts from me! Thanks Scratch community! And as always, Scratch on...

Agghh!! Sorry, but could you not change the colors like that (especially to bright ones)? It's seriously hard to read...

Anyways, I don't think Scratch on the Wii would be too great, for two main reasons.

1. Like someone mentioned before, scratch isn't something really big, like runescape or something, that everybody knows about.
2. The fact that the Wii has interactive properties in most of the games would destroy the purpose of scratch being a simple language. Scratch is what teaches the basics of programming to kids, so that later they can learn to program in certain things like flash or java. If it were to create interactive games on a major console like the wii, the "simple" aspect would be taken away from it.

I think games that are created based off of movies and shows are $40 most of the time.

Ha! In Britain, although we have a different money system, ours are still cheaper. I got a brand new Wii game for £20, which is $32.55!
