Comments on the My stuff page

...:::Comments on the My stuff page ::...

I suggest comments on the My stuff page, so you can ask/say something to a user (not private!) without posting comments on a project. I think comments on a project should be about the project itself, not his creator.

Also - I think it won't be that hard to implement.

What do you think about this?

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

It's a good idea but if 200 users want to say smething to the user there isn't exactly going to be room on the my stuff page

Not if you can browse trough them, like on the galleries.

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

Yeah but it's a waste of your time if people are just saying stuff that they would on projects like 'Your Mario Project is cool'

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

Maybe - but to say "my mario project" is cool, they will first have to watch "my mario project" and it is much more easy to post on the projects page, not?

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

It would also be useful if you wanted to leave a comment to somebody who has NO projects.  This has happened a few times, where somebody who has no projects left me a comment to which I wanted to respond.  I was not able to do so.

Sometimes people who have no projects are either new or post rude comments to make scratch worse. You can reply on that project and see if they ever get back to you or you can post something on the forums, and hope they regularly go to the forums.

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

I see some advantage of being able to have a discussion using the MyStuff page to post messages but I fear people will abuse and it will become a chat room (like some galleries). Chatting is not bad but it seems like Scratch is not the best place to chat, there are other better services like e-mail, Instant Messaging, chat rooms, etc.

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

I agree that there has been a little too much chatting, but I can see the advantage of being able to leave a message for someone that they will actually see when they log in, which isn't associated with a particular project.  For example, if someone wanted help on a project from a friend, they could leave a message asking for help and providing the project link.

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

Why should "user comments" be more used as a chatbox then a project or gallery?

About the 60 seconds time limit, is it enabled on comments (projects, galleries,..) too? I think this would really slow down or stop chatting.

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

I think that this should be allowed, and that you can remove bad comments on your User Page, just like projects.

Re: Comments on the My stuff page

I think comments on the MyStuff page would reduce the number of chat galleries/projects, or forum threads created only to contact other Scratch members.

And, if users want to chat (i agree Scratch is not created for chatting) the myStuff page might be a better place then a popular project.

Newgrounds allows you to comment on users... (also PM, but PM is not good for a community like this one)
