Re: Leader Board

That sounds like an interesting game! I know for a fact that you can definitely do your first question. If you are using the stage as a background, click on it look for the tab that says background, click on it, and choose either paint or import. Paint allows you to draw your own background and import allows you to make a saved picture your background.

As for your second question, what I think you are asking to do is impossible with the current version of Scratch, but there are a couple ways you could work around it.
1. You could have a fake high score table that does not keep a user name on it. Instead of real human scores, the player could be ranked among fake players (computers). To do this, I would have a list called scores. At the beginning of the game, I would add the fake scores onto it (i.e. 37500). Then when the game ends, I would have a player type in their name (see my string project, or if you were willing to wait for the release of Scratch 1.4 it would be a lot easier to do with the answer/ask blocks). After that, I would have their score compared with the other players on the list ( <(  <>>  )>  <(  <<>  )> ). The information could then be added and displayed on a list.
2. Instead of it being displayed on a high score list immediately, you could make the scores permanent if you visit the Scratch website often enough. On the pacman program, once the player has finished there game, you could ask the player to post there score on a comment on the project's page. Then when you log onto Scratch you could look at the scores and put it a list on your project. Make sure to include a <when green flag clicked> script that has the add to list block load the names at the start of each game.Then, upload your project again with the EXACT SAME NAME, and your project will be updated. The players can now see there score.

Now, last but not least, your third question. All you have to do is create several costumes for your pacman sprite (using the same directions in answer #1, except with your sprite). Then, at the beginning of the game, have the player choose a character with arrows. When one arrow is clicked, have a script like this.
Arrow Sprite:
<when[ Right arrow ]clicked>
<broadcast[ change costume
<wait( 1 )secsc>
Pacman Sprite:
<when I receive[ change costume
<next costume>
See an example of this on my and teammcb's project, the average town.

I hope I could help! If any of this is too confusing, feel free to ask me to create a sample project!

Re: Leader Board

Control-click or right click on the stage. Select the "Grab screen region for new sprite. Then select the block.

Re: Leader Board

Or, in Scratch 1.3, you can right click the script you want to use and select the option "save picture of script".

Re: Leader Board

with the 1.5 version can you have high scores? i have space shooters and i am wondering if i  can have a list that has all the people's name with the high score to update by itself online. i have the scripts saying this " if item 1 of top scores is less than (variable) score, insert (join)   (variable)username (join) with (variable ) score. and same thing (changed 1 to last) for the last place.

Do you mean 1.4? 1.5 isn't out yet. If you mean 1.4, then you can't. The Scratch team hasn't given so much as a hint about Scratch 1.5, but I don't think there will be high scores. It would be a great feature though.
